I saw this book challenge going around and thought I'd give it a whirl :D
The last book I read: My last fiction book was Snow and Rose by Emily Winfield Martin (a cottagecore-style retelling of the fairytale "Snow White and Rose Red"), and my last nonfiction book was Around the Ocean in 80 Fish and Other Sea Life by Helen Scales (a brief overview of eighty interesting sea creatures from the perspective of a marine biologist / ocean activist). Both great books!
A book I’d recommend: My most recent treasure-find was Tom's Midnight Garden by Philippa Pearce, which I'd recommend to absolutely anyone.
A book I couldn’t put down: The Maker of Swans by Paraic O'Donnell had me spellbound for the two days it took me to read it. Absolutely breathtaking storyline and some of the most absorbing prose I've ever read.
A book I’ve read twice or more: Where even to begin?? I've read The Accidental Detectives series by Sigmund Brouwer and The Cooper Kids series by Frank Peretti so many times that their covers are falling off. I've also read 100 Cupboards by N.D. Wilson and The Stone of Destiny by Jim Ware quite a few times.
A book on my TBR: I've had Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones, Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt, and The Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald on my list forever!
A book I’ve put down: I actually gave up on a book just last week! The Paleontologist by Luke Dumas. The idea of a museum curator haunted by dinosaur ghosts while unraveling a paleontology mystery sounded so fun, but there were some themes I really disliked and some major horrific elements that I couldn't stomach.
A book on my wish list: I've been wanting to purchase Graveyard of the Atlantic by Alyson Hagy and several of the Twin Peaks books by Mark Frost.
A favorite book from childhood: So many, but The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett and the Lara and the Gray Mare series by Kathleen Duey stand out.
A book I’d give to a friend: I've bought The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton for several friends, and I'm planning to give Ella Minnow Pea by Mark Dunn to my friend for her birthday!
A book of poetry or lyrics that I own: I've been meaning to read my copy of Robert Frost's selected poems that I picked up from an antique shop, but I am also considering buying Christina Rossetti's selected poems. She's one of my favorite poets!
A non-fiction book that I own: The most interesting nonfiction book I own is A Cheesemonger's History of the British Isles by Ned Palmer. Absolute gem.
What I’m currently reading: I'm working on Paper Towns by John Green! I saw the movie years ago and have never read one of his books before. I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought I might. There's some really interesting meta things going on that I'll elaborate upon in my Reading Roundup later this month.
What I’m planning on reading next: I'm planning to read The Black Stallion and The Black Stallion Returns by Walter Farley next due to my recent fascination with the movie, but I've got Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell and Medea by Euripides coming soon too.
If anyone is interested, I'll tag @moonlightandstarshimmer, @amiablesummer, @lindensea, @ramblings-of-lola, @clawedandcute, @ladyzayinwonderland, @thevintagetiger, @melliabee, @freenarnian, @sunflowergardens-world, @pgzebra1023, and anyone else who'd like to join :D

I can't stop thinking about how in Anakin's desperation to prevent his vision of Padme dying, he caused it to come true.

few things bring me as much joy as the knowledge that Don McLean (1) loved Weird Al Yankovic’s Star Wars themed parody of his song American Pie and (2) his children played it so much that McLEAN frequently got his own lyrics confused with Weird Al’s in concert
