1, 4-7, 10, 14, 18, 21, 26, 31, 32, 36-40, 44, 46, and 49 from the 50 Questions ask, if you please?
oh my goodness thank you so much for the questions!! I'm sorry it's taken me so long to answer <3
1. What are three shows in your watchlist that you’ve been meaning to get to?
Monk, Northern Exposure, and House M.D. have all been on my list for a long time! I really don't watch that much TV on my own, so it takes me forever to get through an entire show.
4. What do you wear when you have to dress nicely?
it depends on the event, but I generally either wear a casual dress with flat shoes, or a nice blouse with jeans or slacks and sneakers. I'm not much of a dressing up person, but I enjoy it sometimes!
5. How do you like your eggs?
usually hard-fried or scrambled!
6. What do you use to keep your place when you’re reading a book?
I have several bookmarks (a big one, a medium one, a small one, and a fancy one), so I generally use one of those. if I forget to bring a bookmark, I can usually just remember where I left off.
7. What color dominates your closet?
SO. MUCH. BLUE.
10. What’s your favorite kind of UQuiz question? (lyric, color, aesthetic, etc.)
probably questions that give me photos to choose between! I often get stuck when the answers are all nuanced and tricky :D
14. What are some places where you feel most at home?
I feel very at home when I'm at home (haha), at my church, or at my aunt's house! the library has also become a second home.
18. What’s one historical event that you would have liked to have witnessed?
these might seem a little weird, but (1) Remy Van Lierde's sighting of a 50-foot snake in Africa, (2) an original production of a Shakespeare play performed at the Globe Theater, (3) the painting of the Sistine Chapel, or (4) the printing of the first Bible on the printing press. lots more, but many are tragic and I'd rather see something beautiful or interesting!
21. What’s your favorite period in art history, your favorite famous work, and/or your favorite style of art?
I'm partial to the works of Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet, but I'm also a huge fan of John Williams Waterhouse!
26. Can you cook or bake? If so, what are some of your specialties?
I can! my favorites are chili, stuffed mushrooms filled with spinach-artichoke dip, banana muffins, and pumpkin muffins.
31. What’s the last music video you watched?
I truly have no idea; I used to watch music videos all the time, but I rarely do anymore. possibly "Sail Those Same Oceans" by 30 Odd Foot of Grunts & Russell Crowe? (for obvious reasons)
32. If you could dye your hair any color, regardless of how you think it would look, what color would you choose?
for a more natural look, I'd go with a darker shade of brown (like Sandra Bullock) or a reddish-auburn (like Natasha Romanoff). for a more daring look, maybe purple!
36. What’s an arcade or table game (air hockey, ping-pong, etc.) that you’re really good at?
I'm probably best at air hockey, but to be honest I'm not great at any of them :D I'm good at board and card games though! I recently discovered Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza, and I'm a champ at that one.
37. Do you mind if others are in the kitchen when you’re cooking or baking?
my kitchen is very small, so I'm not a big fan of it if they are also moving around and cooking. I don't mind having someone sit at the table while I cook though!
38. What’s one show you watch or musician you listen to that your friends know nothing about?
I am the sole Once Upon a Time fan in my family, unfortunately. Twin Peaks was my big secret show for awhile, but my sister and I are watching it now. I don't really have much secret music; when my family and friends are in the car, I just play whatever is on my playlist.
39. What was the best part of your day today?
I get to go to the library after work today! and I get to make some spinach-artichoke dip to go with dinner tonight.
40. What’s your favorite kind of tree?
I love cherry blossom trees, apple trees, and weeping willows!
44. What do you do with spare change?
I have a jar of spare change on my bookshelf in my room, and I usually dump it in there! my local library sells books for $0.25 apiece (or $1 for a bag of books), so I always keep four quarters in my wallet in case I find something I like.
46. What’s the last thing a friend recommended to you that you looked into and actually liked?
probably the reselling website Vinted! I'm always hesitant to try new apps and selling platforms, but it's been a great way to sell some of my old stuff and find some great things at insanely low prices.
49. What’s your favorite thing to do when it’s raining?
either take a nap or curl up with a good book and some hot tea!
THE MANDALORIAN Chapter 4: Sanctuary
You should be able to listen to a full album without looking at your phone. You should be able to watch a 3 hour film from beginning to end without checking social media. If you can't do this, you need to start training your attention span as if it were a physical muscle. I don't experience boredom or restlessness because I've trained my brain to not be dependent on quick stimuli and dopamine hits. If you can't chill on a park bench while waiting for a friend with just your imagination to keep you company, you need to learn how to do it ASAP because one day we may not have access to the internet.

so fun how every character on Gilligan’s Island lives entirely within their own little headspace. Ginger sees the world exclusively through the lens of a Hollywood camera. Mr. and Mrs. Howell relate everything to money. the Professor can only view the island from the perspective of science. Gilligan has the brain of an eight-year-old and behaves accordingly. and yet they all interact and cooperate so effectively and entertainingly!

I’ve seen a lot of interpretations going around about Eva Stratt that I Do Not Agree With and actually actively Do Not Like.
Guys… Stratt is not a villain. Stratt did not betray Grace. Stratt, with her planning and decisions and work and sleepless nights *saved the world* by sending the literal only person who could figure out the astrophage problem to space. And she did it to her own detriment: Grace was the closest thing she had to a friend throughout her whole story. This is shown in the movie by the karaoke scene and the scene before it, and in the book she and Grace hang out together so much that people on the team thought they were romantically involved.
The true "villain" in the story is the astrophage, but if we need a human villain, it would be Grace and his cowardice. He *knew* he was the only person who was qualified to analyze the astrophage on the mission and he *still* refused to go, even though it was literally the only way to save the world. He redeems himself, of course (that's why it's a great story! The protagonist doesn't start out being a hero but grows into it!), but Grace is not A Good Man at the chronological beginning of his story. Stratt is the one who makes the hard decisions and sacrifices everything to save the world.
“But wait,” you say, “Casting Stratt as the villain is so good because through a religious lens, Eva is like Eve and Eve caused the downfall of the human race through her sin, and uh… Eva sent Grace on the mission when he didn’t want to go, but the day was saved by the Hail Mary and Grace, like Mary and Jesus who saved all of humanity, so we have to keep Stratt as the villain so the metaphor works!"
First of all, creating an incorrect interpretation so a metaphor works means it's not a good metaphor. BUT the religious metaphor absolutely still works without misinterpreting the characters and plot! Remember, Eve is called "The Mother of All Living" in Genesis. Stratt, who, through her tireless labor, decisions, and sacrifices, saved the world, and therefore can have the title "The Mother of All Living" You need both Eve and Mary for Jesus to be born as the Savior, just like you need both Stratt and the Hail Mary for Grace to save Earth (and Erid!).
