when it comes to the apes, who gets jealous the most and who literally couldn’t care less (bc they trust their echo) 😩
From Least to Most LFG?
Caesar would be the least likely to get jealous. He's got an air of confidence around him and probably does consider you to be the catch in the relationship though you see it the other way around. Also knows he can trust you around the other Apes of the Colony simply because of his status. If he does feel jealous though? Good luck to you in the nest later that night. Caesar is not prone to biting often but he'll favor the tender spot between your shoulder blades if he feels the need to claim what's his. Caesar also might take it slower just to torment you and ask teasingly what you were doing paying attention to another as if he weren't enough.
Noa / Blue Eyes are tied for the next spot. They're both pretty inexperienced and seeing you interact with another male, or even female and not giving them the attention that they need from you could cause problems. Noa would brood around about it and only brings it up in a jealous fit when you're alone resulting in a very passionate mate session whereas I think Blue Eyes wouldn't quite know how to cope with it so he starts to ignore you until you finally bring it up to him and have to explain to him that he has nothing to be jealous of ( Hey, his dad is Caesar, wouldn't you feel a little insecure too? )
Anaya is a very jealous Ape. Probably stems more from his comparisons towards Noa. Thinks that Noa would be a better match for you than himself and whenever you are spending more time with the other Chimp, Anaya cannot help the feeling inside of the pit of his stomach at the sight. And if it's an Ape you usually don't interact with? He is glued at your side, helping you, talking to you, not letting you be alone. That's not allowed. Ends in the nest that night and Anaya is mounting you without a word and taking what he knows is his. You let him, because he's not wrong. You're all his.
Koba would be the most jealous. C'mon, were we expecting someone else? Once the relationship between the two of you festers into something more, Koba becomes incredibly possessive. No one is allowed to look at you, you're not allowed to look at anyone. He doesn't let you know outwardly that he is though until you and the Bonobo are alone and he is all over you. Biting you. Marks all over. You're his and the rest of the Apes need to know that. Big time creampie for you, bestie. The rest of the Apes, on top of the marks, deserve to smell Koba all over you too.
You have learned this not from words, but from silence—the way sound thins when something important is happening. Leaves hesitate. Birds cut their calls short. Even the wind seems to slow, as if it knows better than to interrupt.
Caesar moves through this awareness like he belongs to it.
You walk just behind him, close enough that the edge of his shadow bleeds into yours when the light breaks through the canopy. He does not look back. He never does. He doesn’t need to. He knows where you are with the same certainty he knows where his rifle rests, where each ape in the patrol moves, where the borders of his territory begin and end.
You are counted.
That knowledge presses against your spine more than the heat.
Ahead, the patrol fans out—Rocket signaling low with a sharp grunt, Koba slipping through the brush like a blade with a mind of its own. Maurice lingers near the rear, calm and watchful. They scan the forest for danger.
Caesar listens for you.
When your steps slow, his do too. When you pause to steady your breath, the entire patrol halts without question. No command is given. No explanation offered. It simply happens, as natural as breathing.
You hate how easily it happens.
“You tired.”
Caesar’s voice is low, rough-edged. The words come clipped, shaped by thought but still heavy with instinct.
You nod. Denying it would be pointless. “It’s been a long walk.”
He turns then, finally. His dark eyes fix on your face, searching—not for agreement, but for weakness. For signs you might not even know you’re showing.
“Next time,” he says, a soft huff under the words, “you stay.”
Your stomach tightens. “I’m fine.”
His brow lowers. A quiet, displeased grunt rumbles in his chest.
“You stay,” he repeats.
The patrol waits. The forest holds its breath.
You nod, because arguing here would draw attention—and Caesar does not like attention on you unless it is his.
He turns away, satisfied. The patrol moves.
You follow.
This is how it has been since the humans came back.
Since guns reappeared in the world. Since the dam. Since Caesar learned that cages do not disappear when walls fall—they only change shape.
You were part of that lesson.
You remember the first time you stood beside him in front of the humans. The way his presence filled the space without effort. The way his gaze lingered on you longer than it should have, as if something about you disrupted a careful internal balance.
You told yourself it meant nothing.
You do not tell yourself that anymore.
The village emerges from the trees—woven platforms, branches bound with rope and vine, apes moving with purpose and quiet confidence. Children dart between legs. Tools clack softly against wood. Life continues.
When you step into the clearing, voices lower. Eyes flick your way.
Not hostile. Not curious.
Aware.
Caesar shifts half a step—not blocking you, not overtly shielding—but enough. The looks slide away. Attention redirects.
You head toward the shelter you’ve been using near the village edge. Close to the forest. Close to escape, you once thought.
Caesar follows.
Inside, the light dims. The air smells of bark and earth. You set down the supplies you carried, hands moving automatically.
“You were with humans today.”
Caesar’s voice comes from behind you. No question. A low chuff punctuates the statement.
Your hands still. “I helped Maurice translate. They wanted to talk about—”
“I know.”
You turn.
He’s closer than you expected. His eyes track over you—your wrists, your throat, the way your shoulders are drawn tight.
“They looked at you,” he says.
Your pulse quickens. “They look at everyone.”
A low, displeased grunt vibrates in his chest.
“No,” Caesar says. “They looked at you.”
There is something sharp beneath the calm now. Not anger. Calculation.
“They’re scared,” you say. “We all are.”
“Fear make humans careless,” Caesar replies.
You don’t like the way he says it—like a warning already justified.
“They didn’t hurt me,” you say quickly.
His eyes flick to your wrist. Your collarbone. Back to your face.
“Not yet,” he says.
Silence stretches.
“You cannot go back to them alone,” Caesar says.
You exhale slowly. “I wasn’t alone.”
“You were not with me.”
There it is.
“You’re the leader,” you say carefully. “You can’t always—”
Caesar steps closer.
The air thickens.
“I can,” he says. “I will.”
Your back touches the wall before you realize you’ve moved. Caesar stops just short of crowding you, but the space feels imaginary.
“You belong here,” he says. “With apes.”
“I’m human,” you reply.
The moment the words leave your mouth, you regret them.
Caesar’s brow furrows. A low, warning hoot escapes him.
“You are mine.”
The words are quiet.
That makes them worse.
“Caesar—” you start.
His hand lifts, bracing against the wall beside your head. He does not touch you.
“I saved you,” he says. “When humans ran. When they chose power.”
“You saved everyone,” you insist.
He looks at you steadily. “I saved you first.”
Memory flashes—his arm around you at the dam, pulling you behind him without hesitation. You had clung to him then.
You wish you hadn’t.
“This isn’t right,” you whisper.
Caesar’s fingers flex against the wall.
“Humans take,” he says. “Use. Break.”
“And apes don’t?” you ask, quietly.
For a moment, something like hurt flickers across his face.
Then it hardens.
“You are afraid,” he says.
“Yes,” you admit.
He steps closer. His presence crowds you, warm and immovable.
“You should be,” he says. “World is not gentle.”
A shout cuts through the village outside. Raised voices. Tension.
Caesar turns instantly.
“Stay,” he orders.
“I—”
“Stay,” he repeats, sharper.
He leaves without waiting.
That night, sleep does not come easily.
The forest hums beyond the thin walls. Every sound feels too loud. You lie still, staring into the dark.
You wake to pressure.
Not pain. Weight.
A forearm across your middle. A hand at your shoulder. Caesar’s presence pinning you to awareness before panic fully takes hold.
“Quiet,” he murmurs, a low chuff under the word.
You freeze.
“What’s happening?” you whisper.
“Humans,” he says. “Close.”
A gunshot cracks the night.
You flinch.
Caesar does not.
His body shifts, angling over you, broader now—shielding without asking. His grip firms.
Sleeping Positions Headcanons. (Caesar, Noa, Blue Eyes, Anaya, Koba.)
Caesar
You sleep coiled into his side, his arm a cushion for your head. He likes to study your softened features as you sleep, the way your mouth is slightly agape, and the twitch of your brows as you dream. You take comfort in his warmth, the harsh winter months to come blowing full steam ahead and taking hold of your bones and choking out the heat from your blood. Caesar's warmth and the safety of the nest your safety net from the harshness of the climate, he enjoys your dependence on him in your sleep, your vulnerability and softness only encourages his innate need to pull your closer into his side.
Noa
Noa pulls you halfway on top of him, your leg straddling his taut waist and your chest pressed against his pec. He listens to your sleep induced breathing, allowing it to subdue him from the stresses of his long day. His hand will be absent-mindedly soothe your soft skin, and he'll always be on the lookout for the soft contented sigh that escapes you at his touch, your body instinctively reacting to the touch of your mate. He lay with you until finally his mind finally eases enough that it'll let sleep completely enrapture his senses, snuggling his face into your hair.
Blue Eyes
Blue Eyes prefers to be the bigger spoon, completely encasing your frame with his body. His head resting on top of yours, the feeling of his warmth and the safety of his arms causing a love smitten smile to slip onto your lips. His calloused hand grabs on to yours, and he emphasizes that sleep finds him easier when he's cuddled on to you. It's become routine for him and sleep will utterly evade him if your not there with him so when a hunt is longer than expected and he'll have to spend the night away from you, it's absolute hell and he wants nothing more than to have you in his arms and the comfort of the nest surrounding him.
Anaya
Anaya basically sleeps on to of you, his limbs wildly spread out, and his dead weight now the norm for you. He's an abnormal sleeper and he often moves throughout the night but you can guarantee that some part of his body is on you at all times, you'll often lay on your back awaiting sleep to finally take hold of you as you listen to the sleepy mumbles that escape him, it makes you smile but you envy how easy sleep comes to him. You'll sometimes soothe the fur on top of his head, a soft giggle emitting from you as you watch the twitch of his nose and the wiggle of his limbs at your touch.
Koba
You often find yourself falling asleep side by side, close in proximity but not exactly cuddling. It's only when you have fallen asleep that he makes a move. When he's in need of comfort, he'll hug onto your waist, his head resting on the softness of your tummy. Sleep evades him frequently, and he's not exactly keen on asking for consolation, but the openness that you emit whilst in sleep eases him enough to pull himself closer to you. You don't mind it, and you would rather not say anything about it when you wake with him huddled into your tummy. You wouldn't want to chase him back into self isolation. This was something that didn't need to be spoken on.

I don't have any excuses for this. It's been bouncing around in my head for DAYS after reading so many Koba imagines, headcanons, and one-shots. I've got to get it out of my system. MINORS DNI
Pairing: Koba x F!Reader
Warnings: Toxic relationship, perceived one-sided affection, NSFW, 18+, possessiveness, jealousy, and all the fun things that go with that. This is NOT a love match. This is a hate match.
Summary: Koba relishes the fact he can make a human bend to his will. It feeds a part of his mind that wants to heal from his past.
Koba hated humans. Everyone knew it, including the woman who found herself in his nest every night. It wasn't the healthy relationship she had always dreamed of. A white knight rescuing her from her woes, selflessly loving her and holding her close, doting upon her every minute, long conversations that dragged through the night.
The Bonobo was anything but a white knight.
A part of her hated him, too, and she wondered if that was why she kept coming back. The knowledge there was no shared love. Only a connection that could get them through these uncertain times. A comfort, having someone to go to, someone to take their tensions out on.
It was a game. A horrible, lovely, addicting game.
She was pulled back to the beginning, the very beginning, when the tension had begun to raise its ugly, bubbled head.
"Would you...mate?" Rocket asked, dipping his head as he motioned to her with a long-fingered hand. "With...ape?"
The question should have brought heat to her cheeks. Such a bold question at that. But she had long grown accustomed to their questions, their curiosities, and their bluntness. Apes didn't share the same ideology around such...sensitive matters.
A small frown pulled her eyebrows together. Would she? She had never thought about it. Sure, there were some apes that she might consider...attractive by human standards. It was a weird part of her mind, and she wondered if it was because she'd been isolated from the rest of humanity for so long. At one point or another, her biological clock would start ticking, and the urge to create a family would grow. Many apes would make wonderful fathers, had seen it first hand, in fact. Luka, Maurice, Rocket, and Caesar would all be captivating mates.
Then why did her eyes drift to an odd-matched set of eyes, one hazed over and milky white.
She turned back to Rocket and shrugged. "I don't see why not. It could be...fun. For both parties."
The ape chuffed at that, lips forming an "O" as he nodded. "Think it would be...good. For you."
"To mate?" A sly smile curled her lips as she leaned forward, lowering her voice. "Are you offering, Rocket?"
If an ape could blush, she was sure he would. He snorted and waved her off. "No!"
Chuckling, she playfully elbowed him. Out of all the apes, Rocket was one of her favorites. They had closely bonded over the months she had spent among them.
A sharp, low growl caught her attention. Whipping her head around, it took her a moment to spot where it had come from.
Koba.
He glared at her. Lips pulled back over large, blunt canines in a snarl. Shoving his food away, he got to his feet and lumbered off, grumbling under his breath. Insults, no doubt.
Shaking her head, she turned back to Rocket with a large grin, hoping to poke more fun at him for even suggesting she mate with someone.
It wouldn't be until weeks had passed that Caesar sent her out to forage with the other female apes. They were given an escort of Luka and Koba, and Caesar gave stiff orders not to let anyone out of their sight. It truly was her intent to stay within Luka's eyesight, but when the berry-picking grew thin, she followed the bushes, sticking close to their weave as they wound down hills and around trees.
When she looked up, basket full, her eyes widened. Where was everyone? Surely they weren't far...and hopefully, they hadn't left her. Which way did she even come from? Crap.
"Luka?" she called out, cupping her hands around her mouth.
A bird scattered to the wind to her left.
The forest remained silent.
Her heart squeezed. Taking her basket with her, she scurried up the hill, keeping low to the ground. There were so many bears and other dangerous animals out here. How could she have been so stupid? It wasn't their fault she had gotten separated.
"Luka!" She yelled again, eyes flitting from section to section.
"Stupid...human." The words were low and deep, scorn dripping from the voice like beads of venom.
She was torn between relief and fear. Relief that she wasn't alone, that someone from the colony was here. Fear, because she knew that voice and hated its owner.
Turning slowly on the balls of her feet, she kept her eyes on his feet. "Koba."
He scoffed, dropping down on all fours as he took slow, measured steps in her direction.
"Where...uh, where are the others?" she asked, tucking her chin to her chest, eyes dropping to the forest floor.
"Gone...back." He spat the last word out like soggy toast. "Took too long."
Her dry tongue dragged across her lips. Swallowing, she forced a weak smile onto her face. "Then we should get going."
Spinning around, she took in a deep breath, preparing to march up the hill. God. Of all apes to be alone with!
A strong hand with a crushing grip snatched her wrist.
Her heart dropped.
"Going...so fast?" He sounded amused. The smug bastard.
Fear crept up her spine, leaving a tingling trail in its wake. "K-Koba. We should get back." He was going to kill her. He was going to kill her and leave her body for the scavengers. She was going to di--
Fur tickled the backs of her arms as he dragged her backward. A hard, broad chest pressed into her back. Hot, steamy air brushed against the nape of her neck.
He was going to bite her neck! Go for the throat and dispatch her. Tears beaded in her eyes. Let it be fast. Please, please, please.
"Why...look....at Koba?" He huffed against her ear. His thick fingers tightened around her wrist until it ached and she swore the bones were rubbing against each other.
"What?" She breathed, rapidly blinking.
"When Rocket asked about...mate. Why look...at Koba?" he hissed, jerking her roughly back against him until his chin rested on her shoulder. "Do you think...Koba...would mate with human?"
Her eyes widened. Oh my god. "No! No, Koba! I-I didn't mean anything by it-"
"Good." He shoved her forward, dropping down to all fours again.
Panic settled in her chest as she stumbled, barely catching herself before all the berries were lost to the forest floor. Spinning around, she placed a hand to her chest, trying to settle her flying heart.
Cold eyes bore holes into her skull. He scoffed, lips curling into a sneer. "Stupid human." Padding away from her, he began the climb up the hill. "Keep up."
After that, Koba went with every foraging party. If she was to go out alone, Koba went with. At meal times, he sat across from her and two apes down.
Always.
She couldn't shake him nor the feel of his fur against her skin, how his breath had felt against her neck. The moment in the forest had rocked her to the core. Why did he assume she wanted to...? With him? She knew he hated humans. He knew she knew that! Her mind couldn't find the logic in it. Maybe there was no logic to be found.
Luckily, though, there was plenty to distract her. Since her conversation with Rocket, she had been surrounded by male apes all vying for her attention. From Blue Eyes to Luka to others she didn't know as well. There was something exotic, she assumed, about claiming a human as a mate.
Tonight was no different.
The ape next to her was trying so many different things to win her affection. From a simply crafted necklace to human items he had found on an outing, he lavished her in attention and praise.
She giggled and laughed, allowing him to continue under the watchful eye of Caesar...and one other.
She couldn't help it. He was like a magnet. Her eyes constantly found a reason to look in his direction, to seek out his approval and attention. It was like there was a little parasite in her, yearning for the approval of the ape she knew would never give it to her. She blamed it on unresolved daddy issues.
For all it was worth, Koba never looked away from her. He watched, more like glared while watching the male ape try to win her over. That one milky eye twitching every so often. His lips curled back when the male would touch her for longer than necessary.
This had been going on for days. It became a game to her. Seeing how far she could take it before Koba stormed off from the table. Tonight, though, Koba didn't leave. He stayed the whole time, gaze locked onto her with such intensity she felt like she was on fire.
When the meal ended, she bid the friendly ape good night, and then began her trek to her own nest. The forest was quiet apart from the insects chirping. She smiled up at the trees, breathing in the cool night air that forever smelled of fresh pine. Maybe she would accept the ape's offer, allow herself to be taken care of by--
She was being watched.
She didn't know how she knew, but she could feel it in the middle of her back. A deep knowing, maybe some long-lost primal instinct. Ever so slowly, she turned.
Koba stood in the middle of the path, shoulders back, head tilted down. His chest heaved with each breath, puffs of crystalized breath coming from his agape mouth.
She froze. "Koba?"
His lips curled back again and a low snarl rumbled from his chest. He dropped to all fours. Something itched the back of her mind. Run. She needed to run. This wasn't good. He had finally snapped.
The muscles in his arms and shoulders rolled beneath his fur with each movement.
"Koba, you're scaring me." She took a step back.
A menacing smile split his face.
Fear won. She ran. Bolting down the path, she stumbled and tripped over rocks and twigs. A scream bubbled in her throat. Heavy panting and the sound of feet pounding into the ground followed swiftly after her. She was going to die!
"Cae--" Her cry was cut short.
A heavy body slammed into her. A hand found its way over her mouth, stifling her cry of help as they crashed to the forest floor out of sight. It was a flurry of arms and limbs, whimpers of pain and soft crying. Koba snarled and growled above her, a massive black form in the night as he fought her.
"Don't," she cried, fumbling over her words. "Pleasepleaseplease, Koba. I don't want to die!"
Strongs legs pinned hers to the forest floor. One of his hands grasped both her wrists and pinned them over her head. Hot breath poured over her face. The Bonobo laughed.
Tears rolled down her cheeks. She shut her eyes tightly, welcoming the end.
"Don't...want to kill." He brought his face close to hers, eyes glittering in the darkness. He breathed in deeply. His eyelids fluttered before he dipped his face close to her neck. His mouth rubbed over her skin, open, panting. "Fear...good. Smells...good."
She trembled beneath him, mind a whirlwind trying to process what the hell was happening. "You're...not going to kill me?"
"No." He paused. "Not yet. You let that...ape...get his scent...on you." Koba growled, and she could have sworn she felt teeth graze her neck. "Don't like it."
Silence reigned for a long time. Neither of them moved. Neither of them spoke. It was just his heavy breathing filling the air, and her muffled sniffles. Eventually, he growled as if frustrated and let go of her. His warmth was immediately gone, replaced by the cool night air that felt even colder without his presence.
Cold eyes stared down at her, then he growled and stalked off into the night. What the hell had just happened?
BONUS:
He hated her. He hated that she was human, that she was weak, that she had been allowed to stay in the colony. How dare Caesar put such a...such a faulty creation within their ranks? How dare Caesar send him, Koba, to watch over the human female?
He was not some slave to just do whatever the human wanted.
What he hated more, though, was how she looked at him. Those soft, stupid eyes lingering on him as if seeking his approval, wanting him. And how dare she make him want be the only one she looked at? The only one she was allowed to look at?
Oh, he had wanted to tear that ape's face off when he laid a hand on her arm. Worse still, when he had managed to draw a laugh from her lips. He should have killed them both on the spot. He could smell the ape's scent all over her. It drove him mad. It made him want...want to sink his teeth into her neck. Pin her down, make her beg, draw out noises only for him to hear.
...no. He wanted to make her scream, so that the whole colony would know that she was his. He wanted to parade her, this human female, in front of the males. She was his and no one else's.
As Koba stalked away from the woman, leaving her to collect herself after their brief encounter, there was one thought that lingered on the forefront of his mind.
The one thing he hated most of all? How she made him feel out of control.
(Yay! Let's talk about hybrid babies, this time for real!
So, I did a little headcanon of how I imagine hum-apes babies in the POTA universe, or well, in fanfiction. This would be a child with Noa/César/Koba/Blue Eyes/Anaya/Proximus. And maybe I'll add more in the future, I don't know. And then maybe I'll do something more specific about what fatherhood would be like with Noa, Caesar and Koba )
-The symptoms are like any normal human pregnancy. Nothing to say about this
although, the pregnancy lasts 8 months instead of 9, and the fetus is actually very small, so the belly isn't noticeable until 5 months, and it won't look as big as a normal pregnancy, unless you have twins.
-Childbirth isn't especially complicated, probably easier than most human births, because, well, the baby is smaller. But that doesn't mean it won't be painful; it simply reduces the chances of tearing considerably. Even if it comes out feet first, it will be easier to deliver than a human baby. They also tend to last less time if everything is okay, you know, correct position, dilation and all.
Oh, let me add, if they are born prematurely, they could be in danger due to the conditions, but they could also have a very good chance if they receive enough warmth (mommy's hugs🥺 ) and food. Because of their accelerated development compared to humans, they will spend less time in that weakened state.
At first glance, they are very similar to a baby ape. The mix is very homogeneous, and you could confuse them, but:
• They have human feet (this becomes a concern especially in the Eagle Clan, where climbing is extremely important and this could lead to complications).
• Their noses are also more human-like, still a bit flat, but human-shaped and protruding.
• Their arms and legs are an intermediate anatomy between the two species, with slightly longer arms and slightly shorter legs. They can still walk on all fours, but it's more difficult for them than apes, especially if they plan to run.
•Their ears are smaller, closer to humans, and their fangs are less sharp but still useful for causing damage.

• They can sing, but they can't scream. Don't ask me what kind of throat anatomy would allow for that, but I can see hybrid babies making small sounds and whimpers, but not shrieking and screaming at the top of their lungs like a human baby. I suppose a scream needs a very high frequency. Apes speak at a fairly low frequency, and a hybrid's vocal range is right in the middle of that—high enough to produce a soft sound, but not quite as loud.
• They can swim. Apes can't swim because they lack fat, right? Well, our baby is a bit plumper than baby apes, so, especially during early infancy, they can swim. Perhaps as they grow, this becomes more difficult, but they could develop the ability. ((advantage for coastal apes, like Proximus Caesar))
• Upon reaching adulthood, they will have the average strength of an ape, slightly less than the others, but still very strong. And they will tend to fight more strategically, like humans, using more kicks than punches with their full body weight.
