still think the funniest thing about Zoo-era Rabbit was the 6 belts on top of the up-to-the-nipple overalls. what was she so scared of her pants falling down for. theyre not going anywhere girl damn!!!
,,i don’t think he’s talking about a fight
Starting a new series where I review random albums I pick up on CD from the library PURELY based on the CD cover, album name and song names. No prior research about the bands, no pre listening on my phone before taking it home. No algorithms, no nothing. Purely looks and vibes.
What are my credentials for such an endeavor? I’ve been involved in music since I can remember, was involved in two different children’s choirs between 2nd and 5th grade (one in church, one in school), and participated in band from 6th to 12th grade, and a general appreciation for music and a desire to explore new artists and genres.
So some relevant experience, I guess 🤷
Up first:
“Endless Forms Most Beautiful” by Nightwish, released in 2015 under Nuclear Blast Entertainment.
Tracks:
1. Shudder Before the Beautiful
2. Weak Fantasy
3. Elan
4. Yours is an Empty Hope
5. Our Decades in the Sun
6. My Walden
7. Endless Forms Most Beautiful
8. Edema Ruh
9. Alpenglow
10. The Eyes of Sharbat Gula
11. The Greatest Show on Earth (with chapters listed out underneath, but I don’t want to write them down here for space’s sake)
Why I Got This One: The album cover drew my to this album. The font for the band name and album names made me think that this was going to be a gothic rock/gothic metal band, and I am always open to listening to new music, especially in the gothic metal area. The song names also contributed to this belief, especially with song names such as “Shudder Before the Beautiful”, “Yours is an Empty Hope”, and “Endless Forms Most Beautiful”. They remind me of song names that Ashbury Heights might theme their songs around (if that makes any sense). The lyrics in the lyric book that I looked at before playing told me that I was definitely correct about it being in the metal area.
Impressions While Listening:
I’ve found a new symphonic metal band!!!! It’s not as heavy as Synestia or Disembodied Tyrant, which are the only symphonic metal bands I’ve found that I listen to consistently, but I like this 👍
The sound is also similar to the type of music that Fairy Tail used in its soundtrack, kind of like Celtic metal as well. Another example would be Storm on the Waves by Peter Crowley, with lots of flutes going with the guitars and drums.
What I wasn’t expecting, though, was a female lead singer instead of a male lead singer on the majority of the songs, which works really well with the low flutes and guitars.
This album, overall, was a solid 9/10 for me. I was not expecting this sound when I checked it out, but I’m not upset at all. There are quite a few songs that are going to be put on my playlists and I think I’m going to put the CD on my own personal library’s wishlist to have. There was another, different Nightwish album there, so I think I might grab that one next :0
May I add some Bloody to your Mary with a dash of Adrian-Simon bestism?

"Bloodymary is fucking peak!!" I scream at the enraged mob, hollering at me to die.
"He's right!" A voice echoes from the back of the crowd.
I raise my head- Markiplier from YouTube is smiling at me.

Now we know for sure that The Spine IS an instrument and Rabbit wasn't just messing around in that one MV.

alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
I got a new phone today because my old one was old and very broken and I had like a 20-minute period where all my stuff was downloading to the new phone and it was just me and the two employees the whole time and we started talking about marine bio (since I mentioned that’s what I do) and one of them thought it was hilarious that we keep discovering Bigger Squids and having to come up with even Bigger Names (giant squid, colossal squid, etc)
So long story short I promised this man that if I ever discovered a huge squid species, I would name it the Big Chungus Squid
