REGARDING THE ANTI AI POST…
I want to say that I am sorry for any trouble I may have caused, my goal was simple, take back the control by using our talent, our OWN talent, not some machine. However it quickly became clear that many saw flaws with the idea- understandably so and cannot blame them, to each their own. The fact remains that AI, no matter what, should have no place in these games- especially generative AI.
Let me break this down as I think some people missed the overall message regarding AI…
“You said that there is clear AI in the game.”
CORRECTION: I made it abundantly clear that while the company blatantly admitted to using AI we do not know how much of it is in the actual game yet, we do not know if there was a binding contract that says they may not use AI for the project. The situation is clear, AI is being used in the company but what kind and how it’s being used we do not know at this time regarding Sparklink Stars- of course, AI is still bad for the environment and is actively destroying the ecosystem and hurting innocent animals that are sentient beings who don’t deserve that evil.
“AI is hurting the environment and animals so it needs to be stopped”
Yes! It’s hurting the animals, ruining the environment, AND it is also damaging the minds of people! There are plenty of scientific studies to back this, a mere Google search will show you the truth just as it did me and countless others who have been educated about the dangers of AI.
The goal was not about entirely about what you’d call “fan art”, it was about taking back control from AI, others were quick to say and even accuse me of supporting AI by starting this challenge because the goal was to make art and do it better- no. I’d never support AI. I’m an environmentalist first and foremost and an animal rights activist who cares about this planet and who is sick of the greed that comes from overdevelopment, the stripping of our resources, the displacement of animals, the destruction to our own water supplies, and so much more. This project, this protest, was to take back that control and show that we as people can do astronomically better than what an AI can do for “creativity”.
I never meant to upset or hurt anyone with this kind of post, let alone make it seem like I was trying to rally with violence. I’d like to wholeheartedly apologize to anyone I may have hurt, triggered, or even outright upset with the sheer idea that this could at least make a small difference.
I hope you can understand and forgive me for this.
I’d also like to bring this to your attention, I don’t appreciate the threats I have received. I have received two threats- I will not share either of them a they are too vile for this space. I will also say that whomever, and I have a good idea as to who is responsible for the one message, used a horrible and tragic event in my life as means to “get even” with me saying that my loss was perfect and that I would have been a horrible person to “them” when I very well would have loved them so much is vile. You have no right to use that loss as means of making a point that my stand was not “right”. Do not disrespect that life that was lost. You haven’t the foggiest about what it’s like to suddenly lose that, even naturally so do not EVER use that on me!
If my suspicions are correct, K, I know it was likely you who sent that. That was vile. Utterly vile. What happened to me that cold November morning left me broken, shattered. It didn’t matter if I was a teenager then, I lost them before I could even get to know them. Begone, K, that was vile. This was not about “them”, it was about taking a stand against AI. Never bring “them” into this again. “They” cannot defend themselves but I sure as bloody hell can.
