opening commissions again!

lowkey since graduating (and currently seeking consistent employment) i dont really go out much aside from hitting the gym lol. i do go out for fun things with friends but its not that frequent so i dont get to dress up fancy as often as i used to. especially since its summer i just ping pong between big shirt at home and sports bra and shorts bc its too fuckin hot man. so its basically been just this:

i am unfortunately notoriously bad at figuring out the torso on my own and fiddle around while drawing it A LOT, but revisiting this Ethan Becker video from time to time helps, at least with gesture and stylisation of the torso.

jumping off the video i can show you how i apply it in my own construction with this moko doodle (shes big and muscular and i like her so she will be our subject)

this doodle isnt perfect but it'll do for now. below i have a redline showing the underlying simplified shapes i used to construct her torso. i basically visualise a rectangular bean bag and push it in the gesture i desire. and then depending on the subject's body composition adding muscle/fat on top of that. moko's jacked so her lats spread wider than the torso base which mostly shows where the ribs would lie under all the muscle.

idk if that helps but my boring sentiment to send you off with is at the end of the day tips like these are only really useful if your anatomy knowledge fairly good already, so you should find some anatomy drawing books at a local library or through other means, and go to life drawing classes when you can, it genuinely helps.
