ppl get mad at Hugh for playing off the romance but you gotta understand that actors internalize the characters, they are playing those characters, so of course he'd have the same perspective as Will lol and of course Mads would have the same as Hannibal. one doesn't want to face the truth and the other is aware of it and accepts it.

watching nbc hannibal is going from reading the episode descriptions as you comb through s1 and being like 😟 these murders are getting intense wdym today’s monster is a mushroom man… now it’s the angel maker… now why is this guy turning people into human instruments ??? to reaching s3 aka will’s gothic heroine adventures in italy arc where he turns a man into a lightning bug sculpture for Love and also Just For Fun and slowly touches the heart hannibal (his ex-psychiatrist and soon to be ex-boyfriend) made for him out of the off-brand version of himself and you’re just sitting there like yeah this is Normal. love watching that little guy run around the catacombs in the darkness and then getting his head sawed open a few episodes later. this isn’t even that insane if you think about it

Part of the reason Hannibal is so cool is because you essentially become Will Graham during the passage of the seasons. At first, the gore and the murders might leave you uncomfortable but after a while it becomes a diurnal situation. You’ve become as desensitized and conditioned to the murders on screen as Will has. The only thing you see now is the artist behind the murder, the human part of Hannibal that you can empathize with and to an extent, grow to love.

truly can’t believe hannibal said “Is there a child in your life, will? I gave you a child, if you recall.” when will visited him in prison....one of the most insane things he has ever said
