You see this everywhere. When you call for the deaths of sacrificial evil people, you get widespread support. When you call for change to stop evil from thriving, you face widespread opposition.

Killing pedophiles who have already been caught gets widespread support. Teaching children how to recognize red flags, stopping parents from abusing their children and making pedophiles seem less abusive in comparison, and stopping the normalization of dating barely legal 18 year olds faces widespread opposition.

If you asked a bunch of cops how they feel about Sean Grayson, many would distance themselves from him. But that's only because he's already been declared sacrificial. If you try to stop the police from creating and welcoming future Sean Graysons, they get angry.

So rich people aren’t threatened by Mamdani’s policies. The bourgeoisie doesn’t fear his decisions.

Why is that ? Well it’s because as a social democrat, Mamdani isn’t questioning the bourgeois system. He is trying to contain capitalism while actively rolling with it.

Billionaires don’t fear taxes or fines. They have the money, they don’t care. The one thing they care about is their private property, because it is where their status and profits come from.

Mamdani doesn’t question private property. He’s like ‘alright, you’re allowed to make money out of things you possess (meaning : extort plus-value from workers) but we’re gonna take a little bit of it if it’s too too much.’

This is a problem. We don’t want to regulate capitalism — capitalism cannot be regulated. It needs to be overturned.

As someone who’s been playing basketball since I was nine, I’ve had to deal with a fair number of teammates I didn’t particularly care for — and some I genuinely disliked. However, as a teammate — and in my latter years, as a captain — I always made it a point of honor to be as friendly and supportive to them as I was to our other teammates. I remember I used to say : "It’s not hypocrisy, it’s diplomacy."

This to me reflects a broader view I have on society : what you think doesn’t matter. It is all about what you do.

When I say I don’t care about other people’s opinions, I really mean I don’t give a shit what they think. This applies particularly well when it comes to prejudiced minorities. Idc if you think homosexuality is a sin. Idc if you’re racist. Idc if you hate Jews. Idc if you want a whole group of people to die. What I care about is : are you acting on this hatred ?

Now of course, hating on trans people will make you likelier to discriminate against them and fight against their rights than if you weren’t transphobic. But at the end of the day, what I want isn’t to convince you trans people are great ; I want to convince you to let us be, regardless of what you think. I don’t care if, deep down, you still think I’m a woman, as long as you treat me as a man when I’m in front of you. It’s not hypocrisy ; it’s diplomacy.

I think we focus too much on morals instead of actions. About what’s morally good or not, instead of what’s hurtful or not.

An example of that is my relationship with religion. I grew up in a very anticlerical family, if a very religious part of France. I have my personal view on religion : I think it’s bullshit, I don’t believe in god and I think all religious dogma is inherently oppressive. I am open about my opinion and will gladly share it if asked about. But I am sensible enough not to make it a political battle. I have my stance on religion, but I will never try to convince people not to be religious or advocate to make religion illegal, because it doesn’t make sense. Of course the French anticlerical movement made sense 150 years ago, because religion was literally what ruled society ; religion was oppressive for all people. Right now, as a French person, I still think religion is oppressive ; but it is not harmful on a societal level. Instead, I notice Muslims are the ones oppressed by the French government : which is why, despite my views on Islam, I will fight for their right to practice their religion.

"But Muslims hate gay and trans people !" You know what ? Maybe. I’m sure lots of Muslims do. But right now, they’re not the ones actively fighting against my rights and threatening my existence. What they think doesn’t affect anyone. What does affect us are the white conservative bourgeois that are in power.

Thoughts aren’t oppressive — actions, and most importantly, political structures, are. And dialectical materialism taught us that if you want to change how people think, you have to change the structure they live in first.

So yeah this guy was LGBTphobic, allegedly because of his religion. I myself was openly and visibly trans.
