So I just simultaneously did, and possibly didn't lose my job today :)
Very much did in the sense that I literally do not know where my job is at the moment. But, for the time being I haven't been let go because nobody else including the store owner knows where it is either.
So, I don't wanna risk doxxing myself by posting pictures but goddamn am I tempted because this is not a believable event. This is a cartoon problem. For looneytoons.
But yeah, so, I work(ed?) at a kiosk selling boba tea, right? Freestanding kiosk in the mall with full water and electrical hookups and multiple fridges and sinks and a mini kitchen and the works. Fully functional tea shop. Very important to note that it was there last night, The work chat was discussing another issue last night at closing time. I'll get back to this.
It's been showing signs of being on the way out with how business is being handled lately and I've been considering other options, which is probably why I'm not as torn up about this as I should be, but maybe it just hasn't set in yet, but that's not the point. The point is there's been a lot of shit breaking and not being replaced and nobody mentioning anything about it until I walk into work in the morning and have to figure out why shit like the fucking cash register isn't there today. So I'm kinda used to having to ask questions about big things that nobody bothered to update me on. I was out for two weeks recovering from a surgery, so I came to work this morning assuming there'd be some kind of bullshit, yeah?
So, the question I had to ask the chat this morning was:
Not a text I ever thought I'd have to send in sincerity, but there it is. Because what I found instead was a fenced off patch of discolored tiles and a few holes in the floor where my entire place of employment used to be.
And the answer? Nobody knows! It was there last night when the mall closed, and every single trace of the structure and all its contents including drink making supplies and our safe and cashbox was gone when it opened again. And when I say nobody knows, I mean everyone from last night's closers to the actual (former?) owner of the store jad no fucking clue about this until getting that text from me this morning. For once I am actually the first to know. đ.
So. I guess I didn't so much lose my job as had it stolen. Not by AI, but good old fashioned hands-on human beings picking it up and carrying it away somehow. All mall security would tell me was that they were instructed not to tell me anything and have us contact our management. Who also don't know anything. And later on I came across some construction workers around the gravesite of the kiosk discussing filling in the holes, asked them about it, and was told that they "weren't at liberty to say".
So, not only is my job gone in the most literal physical sense of the word, but it was taken in some kind of super secret kiosk extraction in the dead of night without any warning or witnesses and nobody is allowed to speak of it. The store owner said she was gonna figure it out 10 hours ago and still no word back.
I don't know what else to say aside from I've been laughing all day and I'm gonna have a hell of a time explaining Schrodinger's Unemployment to the benefits office.
Update that is not an update because I'm basically certain this isn't what actually happened:
My mother in law thinks the FBI took it.
Not any of the other stores around the state. Just the one little kiosk.
Why? Because she loves a conspiracy and is just a little bit extra.
Also because she was around for the massive crackdown on Yakuza-owned businesses in Waikiki (in her homestate) that did actually involve the FBI seizing stores (no confirmation of making kiosks cleanly disappear in the middle of the night though).
Still no word from my job on what's actually going on, but the most likely theory so far is that maybe the kiosk was on lease and got repossessed? The mystery continues
(also shout out to the person who proposed Carmen Sandiego)
ACTUAL (partial) UPDATE:
According to the owner, based on what she's been able to find out, the kiosk was not removed legally and they're starting a potentially long process of legal action. I hope she gets to sue the shit out of whoever did it but for now at least I know for sure I'm unemployed.
Really hoping for more details in terms of who/why/how, so I'll keep updating if I learn anything.
For now the summary is: An unnamed entity that is most likely mall management (on account of mall security cooperating with them) stole an entire kiosk and all the contents including money and machinery with barely a trace in the middle of the night grinch-style, with zero warning or explanation, and ensured the silence of both security and the construction crew, in an action that was definitely preplanned and illegal, and as far as I know nobody knows its whereabouts.
So now I'm officially out of a job. Because my workplace was literally stolen in the night.
Actually fuck it let's share some photos cause I wouldn't be inclined to believe this myself. It's not like anyone can stalk me at my job now and I'm not gonna have to see any coworkers that might find my tumblr.
Enjoy the unintentionally funniest text I've ever sent in my life

was thinking about how the concept of god is usually characterized as male (thanks patriarchy) and i came up with a question: in christian theology,
does "God" have a penis?
surely the catholic church made some sort of ruling on this
stop derailing with Jesus's foreskin, this post is about God's genitals ONLY
Hi, Catholic hereâthe only part of the holy trinity with a human body is the Son (Jesus) so yes, but also God the Father doesnât have a human body so no, but the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all the same being as well so yes, but all humans including women are created in the image of God so hypothetically He has everything else too. Hope this helps.
thank you it did not!

Itâs a mess here: someone looked your gift dark horse in the mouth, led it to water, and jumped back on it. Your ducks arenât in a row, someone counted the chickens before they hatched. Your geese are silly, your brown cows arenât explaining how, and every one of these sheep is a wolf but they donât even notice with the amount of wool over their eyes. Im fucking losing it over this entry. Don't get mad.
dont get mad ok
do you have any advice?
eat a protein heavy breakfast. donât shop on shein. itâs never too late to get more educated. tell people you love them. listen to birds. go to an old growth forest. get really good at something, just to see if you can.
just watched jurassic park and from a meta perspective im thinking sadly about how the behavior the carnivores display is way more indicative (at least to me) of wanting to play and lacking stimulation in their lives than actually wanting to eat the human characters. and they got so so demonized for it
JP dinosaur behavior analysis with a healthy dose of headcanon included from someone who doesnt know much about behavioral science. for funsies
ok so first of all lets start with the t rex. her very first moment is the goat leg ending up on the car, but we can see in the next shot that she is very capable of swallowing the goat whole. so how did that leg get there? given evidence that t. rexes were likely social creatures, i like to imagine that the leg on the car was more âhere you go have part of my meal because youâre smallâ for the humans
next is her communication. i want to look at one specific thing, which was actually the thing that prompted the post
to me, that certainly looks like eye pinning. eye pinning is a behavior in birds that signals high stimulation. hereâs what it looks like in a bird
it can be positive or negative, but in this case itâs probably not negative, because thereâs nothing forcing the rex to stay there. if she wanted to leave the situation she could hit the bricks
the continual roaring also sort of suggests play behavior to me. thereâs not really any sense in making a shitload of noise at your prey (unless youâre trying to scare them out of cover, but we know she doesnât need to do that because we see sheâs strong enough to just break into the car) so, especially because they keep screaming, that reads way more like âim making noises and theyâre making noises back ^w^â then it does as trying to intimidate prey for some reason
play behavior also makes sense because we know, canonically, sheâs crazy understimulated. alan grant says as much when he mentions that they arenât feeding her in a way that promotes hunting behavior. the way she noses at the jeep and spins it really just looks more like curious interaction than anything, as well as all the chasing people she does
next, the raptors. their really famous scene is the kitchen, but first letâs establish some facts about them. we know from muldoon and what weâre shown that:
- theyâre smart enough to use one of their own as a distraction for flanking maneuvers
- theyâre good at problem solving enough to wait until the electric fences are turned off to systematically test them for vulnerabilities
- theyâre absurdly fast. â60 mph on open groundâ fast
- they are absolutely not in a big enough enclosure
- theyâre not fed in a way that promotes hunting behavior either
so when you put all this information together and then look at the kitchen scene, i donât believe for even one second that the âhide behind the counterâ routine is fooling those two raptors for any time at all. that entire sequence of loudly scrambling around the kitchen while something that can keep pace with a cheetah pretends it canât catch you? yeah that makes WAY more sense as play behavior than it does hunting, especially since we see numerous times that there are many things on the island easier to catch and eat than a bunch of skinny humans (this goes for the rex, too!)
the bit with the noises is also true here. more true, if anything. muldoon tells us the raptors are ambush predators, so why on earth would they get into a hunting ground and then risk scaring their prey off with the loud barking calls? âhi weâre here come out and playâ is a much more sensible use of a call loud enough to hurt a humanâs ears from across a room in that situation
in conclusion: damnit john your girls are bored as fuck. give them a horse ball or a frozen pumpkin stuffed with meat or something
When I came out, I was SO scared I was gonna get disowned. I wrote a letter to my parents, sent it to their emails, put a physical copy on the counter, and left the house for a few hours to give them time. In that time I tried coffee for the first time, which was a dreadful idea, and got all jittery. I kept waiting for a text or something but nothing happened.
After a few hours, I didnât hear back from them so I went home. My parents were home and had stacked a bunch of groceries on top of the letter without opening it. They said âhiâ and I said âhiâ and went down stairs to the basement. I held my dog and panicked about what to do. My sister, who knew that I had written them a letter of great importance, told me they hadnât read it yet. She also told me she could ask them to do so. I consented to this and stayed in the basement. A few minutes later my dad knocked on the door and poked his soft smooth little nerd head in and said âhey buddyâ and I started crying so hard I almost vomited. He came over and gave me a BIG hug and said that it was gonna be OK, he was OK with this, he knew it must have been hard but he was here for me. He told me he and my mom had already talked years before they had me about how if they had to pick between their faith and their child theyâd pick their child. It was a very sweet moment. I came out to my mom later that evening and we were both bawling the whole time.
The day after I came out to my parents, I came out to my brother @inbabylontheywept at a Mexican restaurant and he took it like a champ. That evening my mom took me for a walk and looked almost angry - she said she wanted to make sure that I didnât use being a woman as an excuse to not go to grad school. I told her I wouldnât and she instantly looked relieved and happier.
My dad, on the other hand, seemed to struggle with it. He kept asking me if I had a boyfriend, and I told him I did not. He kept asking me if I wanted to go clothes shopping with him and I did not. He kept asking me if I would let him go to some of my shows, and I had NO idea what he was talking about.
Finally, 6 months after coming out, of awkward misgendering and questions that didnât make sense from my dad, he excitedly pokes his soft smooth little nerd head into my bedroom again and says âI found a movie about Your People.â My people. I was absolutely bewildered, but he was so excited and I knew he had been trying SO hard so I watched it with him. It was The Birdcage, and it was amazing. It also was revelatory in that I finally realized why my initially-supportive father seemed to be having such a hard time with my pronouns and stuff - he didnât know what the difference between trans and doing drag was. After the movie he again asked if I would invite him to one of my shows, and I said, âHey dad, you know how about half the world is women?â And he said âyeah,â and I said âWell, see, Iâm on that half now. Iâm not doing drag.â And it was like a switch flipped in his brain. He was like âomg thatâs so easy? I was so confused about what to call you when?â
Anyway, my parents are charming and my family has been so kind and patient with me, I like sharing the stories of my little wins with them.
A story I didnât share from this time with my papa was that sometimes heâd try and guess if I was using he/him or she/her pronouns based on how I was dressed. Like, more femme = drag = she/her. So one day he was introducing me to someone and he goes âHello! This is myâŚâ and he looks me up and goes âson!â and I sighed and said âdaughter, dadâ and he just looks defeated for a second and said âbut youâre wearing jeans?â like he was legitimately confused and now that quote just kinda pops into my head sometimes and it makes me laugh đ

How to modify D&D 5E to play just about anything
Go to a game store
Navigate to the dungeons and dragons section
Turn your head approximately five degrees either to the left or to the right
The books on these shelves are also tabletop roleplaying games. Many of them already have exactly what you're not getting from D&D 5E
