if you go to/support the met gala this year you have the moral backbone of a chocolate eclair

because i refuse to normalize this. when these people show you who they are, believe them.
some comments that i saw that are hitting the mark about the met gala:
the met gala: where inequality gets a red carpet
union organizers in cuffs. billionaires in couture
75k tickets funded by overproduction, union busting, and ecological collapses
every work shift gets longer, every pay check gets shorter
red carpets don't feed communities, collective action does
just a reminder that all these people showed up to an event sponsored by someone whose company had a worker die on the floor and then told the others to turn around and keep working.
these people are rubbing shoulders with someone whose company forced workers outside of a warehouse as a tornado approached.
these people are grabbing a drink with someone whose company makes their employees work 14 hour shifts and take no bathroom breaks.
these people are wearing gorgeous gowns next to someone who is funding ice, who is causing children to be separated from their families, and who is causing children to have to represent themselves in immigration courts.
these people are walking alongside someone whose wealth goes to concentration camps and who is economically and morally responsible for the rape, kidnapping, suffering and death occurring in these camps.
these people are having hors d'oeuvres with someone whose employees depend on food stamps to survive. someone who sent police to arrest labor organizer chris smalls DURING the met gala red carpet.
they are hobnobbing with someone who is funding camps that are trafficking people. the people in these camps are suffering from medical neglect, dirty drinking water, sleep deprivation, and lack of food.
these people are willfully spending time with someone who funds cutting our healthcare, removing protections for those with disabilities, defunding the education system, going to war, destroying the environment, raising the price of everything while lining their pockets and refusing to pay taxes.
these people are attending a party thrown by a climate criminal who is poisoning our air, our food, our water, killing our ecosystems, and threatening nuclear war while hiding out in underground bunkers waiting safely for the fallout that they created.
these people are partying at a gala thrown by someone who is forcing ai on the world making everyone less intelligent, more compliant, and less likely to question or speak up about the world around them.
these people are cosigning an event thrown by someone who is involved with epstein and trump and all of the rapist, cannibalistic, pedophilic murderers on that island.
all of this going to a museum that is full of stolen artifacts and whose workers are not earning a living wage.
these people are unfeeling monsters. they are egocentric parasites. they care more about a swanky event and a chance to flaunt their wealth than they care about feeding the poor, housing the unhoused, human rights for all, banning guns, affordable health care, ending genocide, fighting against human exploitation, voting rights, reproductive rights, and affordable education.
we can't pick and choose who we boycott when all of these people knowingly made this choice. it's incredibly disappointing that so many of my favorites went to this event and made this choice but to me it's no different than telling the j.k. rowling/harry potter people that it is heinous to still support her. this is the same shit. we're cheering for our own subjugation. have some class consciousness people. as a treat.
just a reminder that these bottom dwellers were also in attendance: ben stiller, odessa a'zion, baz luhrmann, carey mulligan, charlotte gainsbourg, claire foy, emily blunt, hoyeon jung, laufey, lux pascal, paul anthony kelly, greta gerwig, julianne moore, gabrielle union, law roach, maude apatow, nia long, seth meyers, stanley tucci, tom ford, alexa chung, john lithgow, rebecca hall, morgan spector and marc jacobs
