Have you ever heard of the Hong-Ou-Mandel effect? If two perfectly indistinguishable photons arrive at a beam splitter from different sides, they will always exit together (i.e. they can never be detected separately from each other). As the photons become more distinguishable, the probability of a coincidence event decreases, until it becomes equivalent to the scattering by the beam splitter (i.e. if they enter a 1:1 beam splitter there’s only a 1/2 probability they exit together). It’s one of the key mechanics that makes linear optical quantum computing viable, which is great because LOQC rules (although personally I also love to consider the topological quantum computer). For no particular reason, I feel that this is a phenomenon you would enjoy.
