Hello and welcome to Eden Hollow! I’m Wild Geranium (or Geri for short) and this is my attempt at a writerblr/researchblr. I’m currently clawing my way out of a multi-year writing slump, and I hope this blog will help with that.
About Me:
online, I go by Geri or Nic (she/her)
I’m a senior in university, studying American and European History with a minor in Theology and Religious Studies
I’ve been writing for well over 10 years, but found myself in a slump a few years back
writing- and reading-wise, I love historical fiction and gothic horror, character-driven stories, family dramas, religion- and folklore-centric stories, and pretty much anything with a classic man-vs-nature external conflict.
along with writing and research, I might also post about my hobbies and loves, including lace knitting and crochet, native wildlife, piano and mountain dulcimer, and local history and genealogy.

My Current WIP: The Echoes of Eden Hollow:
“A land of deepest shade/ unpierc’d by human thought/ the dreary regions of the dead/ where all things are forgot!”
– Charles Wesley, 1763
Basics: part murder and medical mystery, part historical-gothic fiction, part family drama, The Echoes of Eden Hollow is currently in the planning and drafting stage. For now, it is a trilogy set in third person limited (though I am experimenting with first-person for 1921).
The Echoes of Eden Hollow is a multi-generational story that chronicles the creation, pinnacle, collapse, and aftermath of a fictionalized, unsanctioned branch of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows: the Sovereign Spiritualist Odd Fellows of Iowa Lodge, the oldest Lodge west of the Alleghanies. Though indistinguishable from other Lodges at its inception, a collection of close-knit families usurped the Lodge’s purpose and influence following the discovery of one woman’s medium-like abilities. Each part has its own main character, distinct cast, and different plots, but all are interconnected in various ways.
INTROS:
-- PART ONE: 1921
-- PART TWO: 1908
-- PART THREE: 1883: coming soon!
CW: Part murder-mystery, part gothic horror, part family drama, tEoEH is intended for adults and deals with death, suicide, grief, gore, generational, medical, and religious trauma, ableism, sexism, xenophobia, and racism.

Sometimes you need to take a few hours to yourself to learn some new fonts. Sometimes these "few hours" accidentally become a few days.
Fonts are based off of 'An Alphabet for Architect's' and 'Modern Free-Hand German' in Letters and Letterings: A Treatise with 200 Examples, by Frank Brown, 1902.
Quotes are from Can Yffarn, Brittany, trad.; Athair ar neamh by Eithne Ní Bhraonáin, 1995; Dream of the Rood, England, 8th cent.; and Iesous ahatonnia by Jean de Brébeuf, 1642.

"It was a lovely and windless evening, and the birds were twittering, and the trees in the orchard near the road were golden in the late sunlight, and the purple milkweed flowers that grew beside the drive smelled very sweetly; and also the last few peonies beside the verandah, and the climbing roses.... And there we were, in a kind of harmony; and the evening was so beautiful, that it made a pain in my heart, as when you cannot tell whether you are happy or sad; and I thought that if I could have a wish, it would be that nothing would ever change, and we could stay that way forever."
