im just confused how the zones that interest me about top gun are somehow not something that interests any of the ao3 writers. am i so disconnected. why does nobody want to write about mavs relationship to his dead mom. my fun bit over vacation was describing top gun to my friends as an intimate character study but its actually not a bit because thats lowkenuinely how i think of it now. like people complain about the lack of "plot" and everything (which i dont really get because there is a plot) but even then the point of the movie is not the plot or even the planes the point of the movie (and the sequel) is solely maverick and his relationship to himself & grief & flying. like when you look past the Big Setting it is an intimate character study. Im so deep in madness that i dont even know if this is true all i know is that its what i see. its a film about lifelong grief.
