SPECIES - THANATIC - PART 3 

x. psychology

while the seemingly 'simple' things that make up a typical vampire's psychology, like emotions and morality, tend to be magnified while being vampires, thanatics have a hell of a tougher time even trying to

register

such things. this is why having an 'emotions' toggle simply don't cut it. thanatics don't have to be

soulless

but they're technically dead

twice

. feeling simple emotions might have to be something a thanatic learns how to do as simply feeling them on any level will not be in their particular embedding.

● emotions: on not quite void of humanity but not the vampire they used to be, thanatics with their emotions on are akin to pure apathy over anything else. emotions are a constant roller coaster of a struggle for them, with many of thanatics existing simply based on habit. their moral centers are more aligned with what they feel comfortable with, but it doesn't necessarily equate 'good' or 'evil'. with their emotions on, thanatics might honor their humanity and do what they can to preserve it.

● emotions: off darker thanatics have no shred of humanity left in them at all. they're ten times the predatory hunters than typical vampires. they're colder and more cut off from the souls they used to have (thanatics are virtually soulless anyhow) they do what they please when they please to do it without any sort of fear for consequences. feelings towards humans typically exist on a self-sustainment basis only. also, feelings towards people in their past might not exist, meaning family and former lovers are just another face in the crowd. thanatics who've suffered from total memory wipe will likely have their emotions off. the person the thanatic used to be prior to becoming a vampire is still there. emotionless thanatics just have to work harder at getting back to that person.

xi. characteristics ● thanatics maintain all of their standard vampiric abilities and characteristics like this one: vampires are powerful and strong, extremely agile and able to move like the speed of light. their reflexes are out of this world. they appear exactly as they did before death, and their bodies will forever remain that way no matter how long they wind up existing. because of this, there is no definitive characteristic of a skin tone, complexion, height or weight, but when a vampire's true face is revealed the whites of their eyes will turn bloodshot and red, veins will appear near their eyes and they will almost always bare fangs.

● the flower amaranthus also informally known as blood flower, has no effect on thanatics like it does vampires.

● thanatics are not completely void of emotions, it's just a whole hell of a lot harder for them to tap into them than it is for regular vampires. having died twice, they're a whole different type of beast than a standard vampire.

● unlike vampires, an increased influx of magic used against them will not kill a thanatic. it can severely weaken it though.

● wolf bites do not affect thanatics.

xii. weakness and death ● thanatics can be killed by violent means, but it'll take a very powerful being (another thanatic) or a team of powerful beings to take them out for once and for all.

● thanatic blood is lethal to other thanatics, especially in high doses. this means thanatics could never form a blood bond with another thanatic.

xii. blood on blood thanatic blood comes with powerful perks. for starters, it's highly addictive to any supernatural species that dares ingests it. it might not taste as delicious as other species, but it'll make the user stronger for a substantially long period of time. it'll enhance the user's natural abilities. for example, for a human thanatic blood will make them feel quite high (and strong) for a lot longer as they will be able to hang onto that high for a lot longer as well. for other supes like witches or sirens, their natural abilities will be lasting and far-reaching. for vampires, they'll be (a lot) stronger and will inhabit that thanatic's active power for a brief period. if the vampire forms a blood bond with that thanatic, the longer the blood share the longer the vampire will reap the benefits of the active power from the thanatic they drank from.

SPECIES - THANATIC - PART 2 

viii. classification

newborn

thanatics are a relatively new species so for thanatics that are turned under the 15 year mark are considered 'newborns'. they will have to re-learn how to use the abilities that they were born with as witches as well as basic vampire abilities. newborn thanatics are relatively at their most dangerous in this stage.

● adroit thanatics who are older than 15 years ( typically original thanatics ) are thanatics who are better skilled at maintaining their powers as well as their other vampire skills. adroit thanatics make excellent teachers and guides for younger thanatics.

ix. powers and abilities ● accelerated healing/regenerating factor a thanatic/vampire is able to heal rapidly after most injuries, save for deliberate magical diseases. a vampire who experiences sunlight will burn immediately but given the proper amount of shade or protection from the sun, his or her wounds will heal straight away. they're also able to regenerate limbs and lost tissue, but given the gravity of those injuries, it might not be able to heal as quickly.

● superhuman speed/strength thanatics/vampires are typically stronger than werewolves, humans, faes, and phoenixes in their human forms. thanatics are also typically stronger than regular vampires. at strength's best, they are near evenly matched with purebloods. they simply grow older with age & experience, thus older vampires are easily able to overpower younger ones. they're the fastest supernatural species and are able to move fast enough for other non-vampire species not to perceive such movement.

● super agility in addition to being stronger and faster, a thanatic/vampire's agility set skyrockets after completing the transition. coupled with speed and strength, they're able to jump onto (or off) super high platforms. vampires can also boast about having the best reflexes of all supernatural creatures.

● compulsion vampires are able to make humans and select other supernaturals (they're most vulnerable) bend to their will. with vampires holding a captivating gaze with their targets, they are fundamentally able to insert their will for the human to carry out. excessive use of compulsion can wear down the victim's psyche and an ineffective technique can much have the same effect. it's up to the maker to teach his or her progeny the correct way to do it. vampires are unable to compel other vampires, faes, phoenixes in their true form or witches whose power effect other mental capacities like telepathy. pureblood vampires are exempt from this. they can better compel all creatures who otherwise cannot be. the pure magic fueling their bodies enables their power a bit greater.

● somnipathy vampires have the ability to directly manipulate dreams of sleeping subjects, particularly sleeping subjects from those whom they have a blood bond with. it requires an extensive amount of skill and experience to be able to manipulate the dream of a sleeping subject otherwise. the dreams can be of any kind or any nature and can seem so real that the subject has trouble even realizing that it is a dream.

● multiple immunities vampires do not suffer from typical diseases that afflict humans. they do not age. they do not die by natural means. save for the bite of a werewolf, vampires can exist forever without suffering from typical human frailties.

SPECIES - THANATICS

thanatics are a subset of undead beings that are the direct result of a prophecy ranging a little under two thousand years ago. a species so rare that there's only fifteen thanatics in the world total.

v. history technically, they are not witches but they are also not quite vampires either. they're a unique ( though subtle ) blend of both. much like the magicks that have enabled vampires to still exist after death, thanatics are held together by the same magic plus a considerable amount of the 'essence' that's fuelling both vampires and the creatures that created them; witches. like darwin suggested, there's a pecking order to the natural evolution of things. but when things become supernaturally powered, the transmutation of the order tends to become a bit skewed. after thousands of years of finally figuring out the formula, vampire royal family member adam de marco learned that to create a thanatic requires a vampire who's a former witch, transition to vampirism and then death all over again but this time with enough demon blood in their system to keep them alive but most importantly, able to tap into an unparalleled amount of power. in addition to being rare, thanatics are also fairly new. the first thanatic was created about 20 years ago.

vi. creation witches who turn into vampires cannot practice magic anymore, as they are no longer connected to the earth nor the elements that enable them to practice magic. when they turn, they are officially encompassing of all the powers that make a vampire. though their magic is not completely lost, it is dormant but with enough demon blood in their systems plus dying all over again enables their powers to exist once more, this time at an unparalleled powerful degree without risk of damage to the thanatic.
