"You can't ship those characters because they have a problematic height gap" well, strictly speaking we can't ship one of them. The other is well within the size and weight limits of most domestic parcel couriers.

Today is a good day to remember the 1942 Zoot Suit Riots, in which WWII army members and the LA times accused Mexican American men as a unit of sexual assault and gang activity.
Earlier that year, a young Latino man was possibly murdered by an unknown assailant? (LAPD botched the case so bad no one is sure if it was actually murder) and 17 Latino boys were arrested without evidence. They were not given a fair trial, with accusers even going so far as to bring in a sheriff to claim Mexican people had a biological need for violence. Activists who helped get the case thrown out and the accused men released were investigated for communism.
US soldiers, cops, and white vigilantes used this as an excuse to violently attack Angelinos with Latino, Black, and Filipino heritage. These attacks especially targeted young men wearing the counter culture zoot suit, which they saw as a sign of gang membership and who soldiers believed flew in the face of fabric rationing. Media suppressed the truth. No soldiers were arrested but many People of Color were. The MEXICAN EMBASSY had to intervene, finally leading to investigations. Some scholars call it a program against the Mexican American Community.
do you think in fantasy settings with long-lived elves where elf-human relationships become common youâd have discourse about whether itâs unethical to pursue a human in your first century because your life with them basically functions as like, training wheels for the rest of your life. like regardless of whether or not itâs true, i bet thereâd be a common feeling that elves who do that and then end up with another elf later are basically just using the humanâs whole lifespan for character development and then moving on to a longer-term relationship they actually have to take seriously. and then thereâd be a reaction thatâs like how are those marriages less ethical than a centuries-old elf getting with a human with vastly less life experience, and also obviously in the first example itâs actually the human whoâs problematic for being more relatively mature than the elf
the financial implications of people who can consistently expect to vastly outlive their partners are also crazy. [in the voice of your aunt with too many opinions] âyou know in a century or two heâll only remember you because he got the houseâ
i often get really bored by the old âalas you are a human... i am an elf... we can never be together because our natural lifespans are different...â not because i hate conflict but because i just think realistically people would get used to it and then immediately be doing this conflict in much worse & more irritating and pointless ways
a thing about me is i basically never notice a wig or other kind of hairpiece in tv/movies. it has to be party city territory for me to even twig it. people will complain about characters' wigs looking bad and i will nod along but there is like a 90% chance i did not notice for a second while watching. i consider this mostly a blessing.
same. but if someone is wearing colored contacts lenses, it will distract me EVERY time they're on screen

There was a popular and very bawdy sitcom about a Greek family living in rural England.
Its name was â7.5â and most episodes revolved around the family watching their own show and complaining about the writing.Â
Today I learned that cuttlefish experience REM sleep, and that it makes their skin flash random colors. This is the cutest thing ever.
The electric eel at my aquarium has a voltmeter attached to his tank, and whenever he pumps out a burst of electricityâeither when heâs navigating his tank or getting fedâthe meter lights up and makes noise. Sometimes, Iâll walk past him when heâs snuggled up and totally motionless on his log, and see the voltmeter going crazy.
I am left to assume that he is dreaming, and is sleep-zapping at the things in his dreams.
I am absolutely delighted to learn that electric eels dream of kicking ass.
The Angel of Death
FISTS YOU
And then you Die
Context: my teacher translated the verb âto grasp with oneâs handâ as âto fistâ since thatâs kinda what it literally means, but you canât translate it like that into English because âto fistâ means something ENTIRELY different, but she doesnât know that.
So she was explaining how they use the verb to describe the angel of death taking your soul â he rips your soul out of you with his fist. Now thatâs pretty damn metal, but she said word for word âthe angel of death fists you, and then you dieâ which is the single most terrifying and powerful sentence to ever grace my ears
Op i appreciate the context but i was going to rb anyway no questions asked
getting older can be so amazing? you get more familiar with yourself. learn tips & tricks for troubleshooting your own brain. trial & error helps you build routines that minimize discomfort, maximize reward. your preferences/interests don't get set in stone, but you do find out which ones are going to stay with you in the long-term, and which ones are fun but transient joys to appreciate in the moment.
you learn that the world is so much more complex than you were taught, and that that's okay, and that there's an endless supply of things you can learn or watch or experience or think about if you want to. if you're lucky, you loosen up, stop putting so much pressure on yourself. if you're lucky, you learn to recognize that negative inner voice, and whack it with a baseball bat until it hushes up. if you're lucky, you learn to treat yourself gently, not because you are fragile but because you are worthy of gentleness. (i hope you are lucky.)
and some things will change. some things will get better. some things will get good. and maybe you start to recover from the dehumanizing stress of childhood/education. maybe you learn the power of your own autonomy. maybe you learn how to walk away from bad situations (which is a superpower even if you don't realize it yet). and you get to choose your own clothes. and your own food. and which relationships to pursue! and what you do with your free time. and with your life (but don't worry you get to choose that gradually). and that's crazy! and sometimes scary. and extraordinarily, indescribably precious.
bitches needed to hear this huh â„ (you're bitches)

Typical Disney-style story of a kingdom with an anxious new ruler whose inherited chief advisor has a goatee, dresses in black and red, smirks a lot and keeps a snake as a pet.
Every single villanous plot to overthrow the kind and âweakâ ruler fail because the advisor is 110% loyal but his vibes make all the baddies assume heâll help out in the insidious coup plan so they recruit him, and he absolutely delights in puppeteering wannabe autocrats into digging their own graves. He doesnât want to rule, heâs having way too much fun being a villain honey trap.
Add-on to this idea: the ruler and the advisor have some elaborate code speak based on like gardening or knitting or something (because chess would be too obvious) to secretly keep each other up to date on ongoing plots. When the advisor slips up at one point, and is kidnapped and replaced with an impostor, this is what alarms the ruler to that the rescue ninja need to be sent out.
âYeah the shadow clobe was perfect except he had no idea how to prune grapes properly.â
