pete flinched ever so slightly as the needle made contact with his flesh, but forced himself to remain still as the woman finished tending to his wound, “you know, you’re a biochemist - not an MD, why’ve they got you doing first aid?”

“Careful. I don’t remember if I put my explosive-tip arrows in that bag or not. Or was the acid tipped arrows.. Shit, I dunno.”

“Is kung-fu better than parking cars? I’m not a mixed martial artist so I can’t say, but I’m really damn good at parking cars.”

“A lot changed for me after Pleasant Hill. Mentally, physically.. There’s definitely been some sort of reality shift.”

“What is this Tik Tok that I keep hearing mortals go on about?”

Felicia stood and waited for her chips to dispense from the machine, but when they got stuck she let out a groan and hit the glass. “The one time I try to pay for something.” She grumbled to herself.

“At this point, doing anything other than whatever it takes means we’re not doing enough. Not with how things have been going. I’m not someone who can standby and watch that happen.”

“You could say that, but it’s a little obvious.” Kate took a swig from her flask. “Don’t you think?”

“Of course hunting monsters is fun. I love the constant threat of being eaten and/or possessed.” 

“Just because someone doesn’t have superpowers doesn’t mean they should be kept out of the loop. I’d like to know when people I love are facing imminent danger.”

“With the state of affairs at the moment, it’s only a matter of time before things escalate.”

“Of course I was a little scared about dying for the first time, but it was super easy. Can’t remember a day, but hey! I’d take it over being dead.”

“I’m doing a thing at Empire, so if anyone wants to give me a statement about how shitty things have been, please feel free to.”

“Would I be jinxing it if I said that I have faith that things might get a little bit better?”

“C.R.A.D.L.E. said a lot of stuff in the ReEducation Center, and — I don’t know. I agreed to go on the news in support of them because they showed me that we have a lot to apologize for. We need them to keep us in check.”
