i watched the last jedi and im not ok…

From rage, sadness, despair, cockiness, pain, regret, disappointment, smugness, vulnerability and now love.

Out of all the emotions, love is the one that’s the most powerful.

Let’s take a look.

When I was watching The Last Jedi, we see Kylo more torn apart then ever. But he opens up… to Rey.

There’s a look by Kylo in the Throne Room that completely shook me to my core.

This look:

We’ve never seen this look before.

It gave me chills so badly. This man is known for showing “dramatic rage,” but this look is something on a whole other level.

It’s towards Snoke, his master. He’s not supposed to look up, but he does. And the look doesn’t disappoint. This expression cements the fate of not only Snoke, but himself.

Why?

All because he’s fallen in love.

It’s all about Rey.

He’s seen this type of torture before, even worse, but not to Rey. And it’s too much.

Usually, Kylo is known for being a reactor. When something happens that he doesn’t like or agree with, he strikes. But it’s taking every control in his body not to lash out. He’s not only thinking with his brain, but his heart.

He’s calculating.

Something we haven’t seen yet from him.

All because of her. Rey has wedged herself in his heart, whether he wanted her to or not. She made him feel worthy, not alone, but loved and supported. He didn’t quite know what to do when she came to him, nonplussed I believe. But it happened before then…When they touched hands, it cemented his fate just like his next actions will.

It’s important to remember, that Kylo didn’t bring Rey to overthrow Snoke. He wanted her to join them like his vision. Her turning. But because of what Snoke did to Rey, everything changed. You see that in this expression. What he now is going to do. That Snoke is his main enemy. Because of what he feels for Rey, he strikes Snoke down with such resolve, that not even his all and powerful master can foresee it.

In this moment, this man is to be feared. He’s more powerful than Snoke. Anyone.

And all because of love.

Again, he doesn’t do this because Snoke has hurt others, is too powerful, or he wants to take the throne. He’s doing this because of Snoke hurting Rey. He’ll take it. But not her.

This is a new emotion he’s not used to…but it’s raw and real. And it quite literally consumes him.

His future vision with her is becoming more and more real. So you can see why her rejecting to him not only hurts him, but basically shatters him.

She breaks his heart. The one he didn’t even realize he had until her.

That’s why his rage is so real and scary towards the end of the movie. It’s not him being dramatic, like in the past, he has grown up in a sense. But he’s just fragments. We see this when he says, “I’ll destory her.” He sounds like someone who just had their heart broken. But he doesn’t mean a word of it. It’s soft and almost like he’s trying to convince himself.

But he won’t. He never will.

Because no matter how much she hurt him, she was the one that put him back together again. The one that gave him purpose. And love, well that unlike his other emotions, is one that won’t disappear.
