I know this is a tiny part of the wider problems born of diet culture, fatphobia, classicism, and racism but like god the idea that "healthy" food must inherently taste bad has completely ruined us as a society.

The thing that really annoys me about describing-the-media-masquerading-as-analysis is that it often wants to have it both ways with respect to the level of scrutiny it ought to be expected to stand up to. Analysis of a text may require justification, but description of a text can simply be incorrect. If I claimed that Moby-Dick is an allegory for capitalism, I might have to do some mild rhetorical gymnastics to pull that off, but it'd take a genuinely extraordinary argument to justify the claim that, for example, Moby-Dick has a giant robot in it.
