The Rubric of Ahriman may have turned its victims' flesh into dust, but it also ravaged its own architect's mind, taking away what little identity an Astartes could have aside from his duty and brotherhood. When Khayon says his line about Ahriman's face, he might mean just that, the persona, the metaphorical face - that Ahriman no longer has any individual goals or self-defined identity, he exists purely as a member of the XV Legion and his only purpose in life is his blind, stubborn obsession with undoing the spell which destroyed it. Take it away - and all that's left is less than nothing, a hollow shell, a screaming void.
