Stone Teacher
Though I cannot walk the paths you tread,
There is much I wish that I had said.
You are far away and beyond my grasp,
And light has faded with each day past.
I know I shall see you once again,
but the world is muted and ashen grey.
I wish I could speak to you just once more,
but this is a life I must learn to live forevermore.
Hail Fenrir
Hail, Fenrir! You who know the pain of shackles, understand the pain of the vilified. We are in great need of your righteous fury, in need of your wild strength. Hear us and aid us, oh Great Wolf!
Short Stories
I came up with some prompts for a few scifi short stories, but need some help in choosing which one I should focus on first. Which one would you like to read? Working titles and the general prompt:
Haunted? No, It's Science Fiction: Ghosts are the results of a rip in space and time.
Magic is Science We Haven't Discovered Yet: Experimentation has resulted in the replication of a power known as magic, as well as the reveal of a secret society who have already used this power for centuries.
Second Time Around: Modern humans are not the first to become highly advanced, though humanity brought about its own destruction and all knowledge was lost. But now? There is proof.
Ghost Planet: Scientists have discovered a planet in the same orbit as Earth, though it is nearly exactly opposite from us across the Sun. Has it always been there? Could it host life?
Which scifi short story should I work on first?
Haunted? No, It's Science Fiction
Magic is Science We Haven't Discovered Yet
Second Time Around
Ghost Planet
'Haunted? No, It's Science Fiction' is the winner! Then 'Ghost Planet' in second place, so I'll do them in that order. Thanks to those who voted!

I hate ai but the witch hunts are worse for the creative community than the actual ai is. I said what I said.

Grey Wanderer
As I sat atop a midnight hill,
I gazed upon the heavens high.
Amidst its vibrant blues and violet hues,
the silver moon adorned a starry sky.
Twas a lonely night with bated breath,
but a stranger soon came upon my way.
Upon a walking stick he leaned,
and wore a cloak of weathered grey.
"The road is long and far beyond,
and there are troubles along the way.
Yet here you are and no worse for wear,
with hope for a new dawning day."
He looked at me with a gentle smile,
with the weight of single eye unblinking.
I could not think for what to say,
though knew my worries were now shrinking.
"Wolfs and ravens are friends to you,
companions for the roads ahead.
They have been there all along,
and tell me of each path you tread."
"Now go along and have no fear,
but do not forget to also see.
The answers lie in the journey there,
but always take some time to breathe."
And just as suddenly as he had appeared,
the Wanderer went on his way.
I looked above with renewed conviction,
because I felt the words he did not say.
Even before I sat upon that hill,
I never was alone at all.
That rocky path was tread by me,
but wise One-Eye will catch me if I fall.
The Kettle and Quill: a short story
The Kettle and Quill was a cafe bookstore on the edge of downtown. It was built from an old industrial warehouse that the new owner had lovingly restored. The upstairs was the owner's residence, while the downstairs housed the Kettle and Quill itself. On one side, with its own entrance, was the bookstore and its antique wooden shelves that had been restored by a local craftsman. An old bartop served as the checkout counter, the modern till hidden by well placed greenery. In the back of the shop was a large hearth that housed an electric fireplace and was surrounded by mismatched chairs. It was a cozy place to sit where many a guest inevitably found a short respite from their busy days. One of the chairs had even come to be known as Old Sam's chair because sweet old Mr. Samuel Smith could often be seen fast asleep in his favourite chair while he waited for his husband to finish browsing the mystery or romance novels. Old red brick, iron fixtures, and dark wood accents gave the Quill - for that was the bookshop’s name - a warm and inviting character.
It always seemed, too, to smell of something earthy, like pine. Yet, at the same time, a hint of citrus entwined with the woody scent that lingered within each corner. It was accompanied by the smell of books, of paper and ink. One might liken it to a bit of underlying vanilla. It was warm, but with just enough spiciness to be comforting. And all that was not including the scents that beckoned from the cafe.

Morning Snack: Cucumber, tomato, cottage cheese
Parmesan Pesto Bread
This is an adapted recipe that was originally for muffins (and a couple other changes), but decided that my square pan worked just as well! I can't remember where I found the original recipe from sadly, but I make this every Sunday so I can take a slice and run in the mornings. Because I never have enough time for breakfast otherwise, you know? I am definitely not a morning person for sure! Anyways, I thought I'd share the recipe and save it somewhere else than my notes so I won't lose it. Let me know what you think if you feel inspired to try it!
