Idk if I like the shorter ones, I'm just trying to improve speed+accuracy of sketching.

Today I cosplayed how I personally draw Marco Bodt!!

This happened for two reasons:

1) ive been wanting to draw more disturbing things again like i used to, but am on a only-sketching-mother-mikasa bender so i can't

2) I had a day off work and havent done SFX cosplay since Annie's Femal Titan over a year and a half ago, so I really wanted to kill 4 hours of my evening not doomscrolling!

I looooove SFX makeup and my version of dead-marco, and have wanted to do a cosplay of him for literal YEARS and just never got around to it. I now have about 70 drafts of the EXACT same lipsync in this makeup to Cancer by MCR in my tiktok drafts, which will not be posted because they are far too cringe(except ONE on my tiktok story for the next 24 hours, if you run you can see it rq!), but I am offering you that knowledge as a mental spur if you enjoy this makeup and feel so inclined to imagine more of it.

Also on a personal note - because all I do on this Tumblr is jaw about whatever - cosplaying Marco didn't give me nearly the gender euphoria I thought it would! I have no strict labels on anything regarding my identity, but used to say I was genderfluid, so I expected a masculine cosplay to make me feel something. But alas, just made me think that if I actually was a trans man or something I probably would be one that just looks butch lol. I dont think I could pass with my face structure at all.

Good thing thats not my problem! Just a passing thought.

My first drawing on pencil and paper in AGES, like im sure ive done some but for the most part its been months since I did a compressed sketch page like this.

Im having like weirdly a lot of artblock rn, its likely because school just ended last month and im still phasing out of my burnout, but im forcing myself to get back to drawing since: a) its jeanmarco day, b) jeanmarco solstice is next week, c) ive been bored and wasting my time at home and I hate being unproductive.

Oomf @cola_esplola on tiktok has been making GORGEOUS genderbent Jeanmarco art for like months now- and im SO completely obsessed that she has inspired me to return to my own bend that i made like 2 years ago but didnt rlly do a lot on

ALSO whats been helping with my physical artblock(most if my artblock is in hand-eye coordination that like randomly one week wont let my hand make the shapes I want, cause its never a lack of ideas. Feels like art regression) is going through my sketchbooks and finishing partial pages, so this was actually just a few very messy concept figures and poorly drawn faces I erased or refined.

we yes we re-read this did every single summer for vibes. I've sketched so many scenes from this and there are still a hundred more I want to.

Every time I have really horrible art block(which i have for like a month), I refer back to fanfic scenes as fuel

I also saw someone the other day do "warmup" sketching? The concept absolutely works and makes sense, I just don't have time to fully warm up with these practices and still have free time to do the actual sketching.

i think I'll add the line work in my studying routines, but otherwise, basic skeletal practice is nothing new. Working up to dynamic angles, though, as you can see on the JM stretches above I was struggling like crazy on back head angles

I think I watched like most if not all of Naruto as a kid, but it was on cable so it doesnt count and I definitely missed some episodes cause of it. Just past the Chunin exams rn and I remember so far, but we'll see how it goes.

(Don't worry about the words on the pictures, they will not make any sense or clue you into any hidden meaning without other info about the fic, so they're better off being ignored.)

2, 30 min sketches with my favorite texture brush and the program I mentioned in my last post. No white or color, just black and very sensitive pressure settings, these are actually fairly transparent if I hadn't saved them as PNGs.

I did sketches of 4 scenes tonight, but the other 2 were of Jean and his house and I didn't really like how I did forms in them, and there's some dialogue I don't know if is canonized yet because I haven't written the spot I drew, so I don't want to post them. I'd say I'll fix them and push some more here in the next few days, but I have a painting final I need to put like 18 hours into over the weekend lol

I've dreamed up and been making snail progress on a Jeanmarco AU for over a year now. I'm not a great writer, so while I am drafting in fic-form the whole story I have planned, my ideas can be conveyed in the most clear and controlled way to an audience by just drawing what I see in my head. I've been craving sketching out some of my favorite scenes from it, however I've been in a crazy art block rut the past week with Finals draining me, so I built my plan for Jean and Marco's respective houses in a 3D modeler.

This will help me significantly, because while drawing in point-perspective within a closed space is easy, the zooming in, adding dynamic bodies, filling with consistent and accurate furniture, etc., is too much for me when I already have art block and it becomes a chore. Since I've finished the houses, I've managed to find perfect positioning for how I've envisioned scenes and cranked out several sketches in about 30 minutes each(AKA lighting fast by my terms). I am simply over the moon to now have 2 fully malleable and furnished 3D models to be used as references when drawing that are completely unique to my story.

I feel a little nervous posting about this, honestly, because I know myself to lose motivation for something instantly once I tell anyone about it. Not sure why(probably ADHD) but once my actions are given life through spoken words, they feel like an expectation or a task already completed, so I hope my pure love for my baby that is this AU will keep that from happening now that I have done this very dreaded deed.

To try and trick my brain into thinking it's still a secret and let me stay motivated to do it, I won't say anything to what the story is about past the fact that it will maybe someday exist. Well actually, remember when I said that I only had a small bit written in my Notes app(it was like 3 paragraphs ago, we were so young then)? Actually, in January I converted said grown-to-be-fairly-huge note in my phone into a Google doc that is now a very bony outline with just a couple of my favorite scenes drafted, and it is *juuuuust* short of 20K words right now. It's teeny tiny. Just a newborn. It gets like 2 hours of attention once per month because the pictures stay in my brain and don't turn into words well.

Anyways, now that you know about my child, I have to kill you.

Kidding! I'll post some of the sketches I've done today later tonight. Do not expect them to many any sense lol! P.S. I love anyone that has read this whole thing, say meow if you did.

They- Omg. They are so precious. I could go on for hours on why Jeanmarco and Yumihisu are just genderswaps, why all 4 would get along so well, why Jean and Historia is the best potential dynamic in the entire show- UGH. Please please please can I get more people on this agenda in the huge 2026.

But like- SHAMEFULY bad) I've been unable to draw Jean lately and it's breaking my heart because he's my favorite character on earth so I tried to force myself to draw his face over a couple of times. The issue is still not fixed but it's better than it was previously dear god...

ARMIN! favorite little guy to draw probably ever... don't tell Jean and Marco I said that, though. I did this in like 3 hours, I don't really like it because it's really plain and I had to use a different brush and colors than I'm used to(my tablet kept INSISTING i had no connection to internet... babes i moved to sit next to the router wdym...) but it was fun and cutesy. I like that with him, you can really just keep rendering more and more and increase the brightness and it still looks fine lol. I stopped at about the 2nd render(I was getting hand cramps at how tiny I started drawing the highlights and texture on the shells that, in the end, you can't even see without zooming in), but it could've easily gotten 4 more and looked like those adorable pastel jelly art styles that ppl have that I'm totally not jealous of... not at all...
