I hope everyone has had a great Pride Month šš š³ļøāā§ļøš³ļøāā§ļø š§”š©·š¤
Here are some outfits I wore between June 1 and June 10.
The last two pics are from the Beaver Queen Pageant, which is this awesome festival in Durham where contestants invent beaver personas, compete in a pageant and make a lot of puns. This was my first year going and there were such good vibes ā¤ļø
Happy Summer Solstice āØšøšāļø
Worn May 30.
You might be thinking, wait a minute, didnāt you do all those Blackmilk theme outfits in May? (Just kidding I know no oneās thinking that.) Yes, I did, but my outfit for āOn Repeatā was supercute but too hot for Durham that day.
And this concludes Black Milk Clothing Pic a Day May
May 25 - May 31
Note: I didnāt understand the prompt āOver Easy.ā Like eggs, I guess, but that didnāt speak to me so I interpreted it as relaxed as in easy-going.
What Iām wearing was basically my uniform in 2022/23, early on in my Long Covid ājourneyā lol, when I didnāt have the energy to get dressed but I was so depressed by wearing my pajamas (aka sweats) and robe all the time. I have many pairs of pants in that styleātheyāre stretchy and softāand many cute colorful hoodies. So I had my daughter gather a bunch of each. She folded them in piles on the floor next to the bed. It was fun to patternmix and it reminded me of coordinates like Underoosš
So glad that Iām able to get dressed creatively when I want to!!!
P.S. āOn Repeatā: my husband started art-directing me all of a sudden and goes āI think you should pose like the models in Elle magazine in the 80s since your outfit is also kind of repeating the 80s.ā
PPS I have really cute pajamas now, I got rid of the sweats.

First of all, I love patchwork. Even when itās just a fake patchwork print. There was a lot of that in the 70s.
And second of all, this dress reminds me of the dress I wore for Confirmation (a Methodist thing) when I was in 7th grade.

May 16 - May 24, Blackmilk Clothing Pic a Day May
Notes: that first outfit (āFeeling BLUE tifulā) I included in the last post, but I love it so much it needed another shot.
Busy Bee was really hard. I realized I have no yellow clothes. I love what I came up with but it seems to look more like āIn my SuperVillain Era.ā But pumps with ankle socks has been a favorite look since Flashdance.
Outfit inspired by a Brady Bunch episode from 1970*
The character was a non-Brady, a magazine publicist, and she had on this beautiful purple Pucci dress, and I was reminded of that moment (2013?) when dresses like this were popular and available at every price point. I used to have several but got rid of them in a moving purge. I found this one on Posh.
I wore it last month bc I was meeting up with two of my brothersāwe hadnāt been together in over 10 yearsāand a 1970s-inspired moment reminded me of our childhood.
Oh! Also, when we were on the road that day, and I was wearing this outfit, I found these lilac sunglasses at a gas station. Love a good gas station find!

* My friend shared that one of her goals is to ride a donkey down into the Grand Canyon, which I saw on a Brady Bunch episode and I thought she might want to watch it. The goal is in honor of her mom, who always wanted to but canāt now (due to Alzheimerās).
I donāt know if you know that I love Scooby Doo.
It was for sure my fave Saturday morning cartoon and led to my love of mystery narratives, from Nancy Drew to true crime.
So I found this bag on the Igloo Cooler website. I think itās meant to be like a large lunchbox. Iāve been calling it my ātrain caseā on these recent little trips weāve taken. Itās filled with jewelry, sunglasses, makeup etc. Definitely makes me feel like Iām living my best life.
This was my travel outfit lol on the way home from the beach.

Seafoam Motel, Nags Head NC
When we moved to Durham three years ago, we discovered that there were small beachfront 1950s motels still in operation on the Outer Banks. The Seafoam is the third one weāve tried and itās my absolute fave.
So many cool things in this short trip!!
-My first ever sunrise! Can you believe it? Def worth the hype! I got up at 5:25 AM, bundled up in my little beach chair with my Diet Dr. Pepper, and could not believe how beautiful and amazing it was. More dramatic than sunsets. When that ball of fire appeared I actually said out loud āOH MY GOD IS ANYONE ELSE SEEING THIS!?ā (I was by myself š) Itās free, you canāt simulate it, and it happens every single day.
-I read Beautiful Ruins for the third time and I just really want it to be a movie too.
-My first beach wheelchair! This was awesome because it let me get as close as I wanted to the water. (Before Long Covid, I didnāt realize how exhausting walking on the beach is, and that itās basically a hill.) At Jennetteās Pier, which is an aquarium and public park kind of, they have them free to use for the day.
-Not pictured, we saw a team of surfer girls in matching wetsuits, all running into the water together and then surfing impressively. The youngest looked like she was 10. They were unbelievably cool-looking.
-My first NFL Draft because I guess I ā¤ļø Fernando Mendoza.

Outfit Staging
Trying on clothes tires my body out. Iām so pleased with myself for remembering this display trick from my time in retail many years ago! The ātrickā is suspending a pant hanger with a rubber band from the neck of a shirt hanger. So I can try different combos without using so many gross motor skills! And if I leave the outfit there for a while I continue my fantasy of owning a tiny boutique.
This outfit was planned on April 20, for a potentially cool and windy upcoming beach day.
Some April Outfits
In that middle pair of pics, Iām trying to show you my 2011 inspo for cutting off another pair of jeans recently. I used to wear that 2011 pair a lot and they were always a good solution. Iām not as enamored of the recent ones, but maybe they just need to be washed more so theyāll get frayed.
Also, we recently went to Geer Cemetery in Durham to read the names and marvel at how old some of the markers are. I love cemeteries.
Worn April 15, 18, 19, 21.
I wore this outfit on April 7 when I was testing out spring photo locations. The first three pics are in Duke Gardens. The last one is in the woods of a public park near my house, which is where I went back to a few days later in my spring fairy costume.
But yeah, this outfit is two dresses, a strapless one over a long-sleeved one.
I kind of canāt believe I actually bought this dress (the strapless one). Online, the bodice seemed very tailored and form-fitting. But the description said āfabric has no stretchā and āno zippers or fasteners.ā Like how are you supposed to get in this tailored dress!!?? I basically didnāt believe it and had faith and it had a zipper after all. Itās from Retro Stage, which has very compelling ads and sales. š
But anyway, it was a fun 90s Dior/Alexander McQueen tribute.
Costuming in Hollywood Filmsš„
I took a class!
It was about the history and process of costuming in film (as opposed to how to build costumes).
I was taking it online, and even though no one could see me, I dressed in theme a few times. The palazzo pants are because we talked about Casino one week, and this was as close as I could get to one of Sharon Stones fabulous outfits in the 20 minutes before class when I realized that of course I should wear something special.
The black/white outfit was the week we talked about Gosford Park, which is set in the 1930s. I love how my hair matches the outfit!
Worn April 2 and April 9.

Bell, Book, and Candle
We went to a reading of this play, adapted by James E. Stewart to the 1950s in the Hayti neighborhood of Durham. Hayti was historically part of Durhamās Black Wall Street. The play was awesome.
I really like readings. Itās so cool how actors can do so much with their voicesāno costumes, sets, props necessary.
The 1960s movie version of Bell, Book and Candle is what the TV show Bewitched was based on and I LOVE Bewitched, especially Sam and Serenaās styles. My outfit inspo was imagining Serena as a 60s goth.
March 28.
Explored Elkin and Mt. Airy NC.
My husband was singing in an open mic in Elkin NC, not far from here, and I decided to go rather spontaneously and we stayed two nights in what used to be the ticket office of the old train station. Very charming. My review is Elkin really fits the bill if youāre someone who watches old movies that depict old small towns and you find them compelling (I am that someone).
The next day we went to Mt. Airy, which is supposedly the model for Mayberry from the Andy Griffith show.
The last pic is an old textile factory.
March 25-27.
