2. educate yourself

3. give out supplies to protestors
people need supplies to protest safely, and even if they bring supplies with them, they can often run out. if youāre able, stock up and hand them out to people protesting. for more supplies to donate, see the āgeorge floyd actionā google docs link in section 5.
water bottles (dehydration and heatstroke are not things people should have to deal with alongside bastard cops. if the police in your area are particularly violent or known to use tear gas, get the ones with the sports cap/suction-thing/etc so people can use them as emergency eye-flushes.)
snacks (make sure to take into account that people have allergies of all sorts. foods will have a little label that says āmay containā and then list any potential allergens. write the allergens on the ziploc (or any container you use) in permanent marker, or better yet, write the snacks included in the pack.)
masks (donāt forget thereās still a pandemic going on. also it will aid in deterring facial recognition when the police try to track down protestors, Ā also part two, if the cops use tear gas, wearing a mask (with the combination of a scarf or bandana) will lessen the adverse effects. lessen, not stop.)
bandanas, scarves, etc. and goggles (ski goggles, swimming goggles, etc.) (see above for explanation on the scarves. same goes for the goggles. antiātear gas and antiāfacial recognition.)
clean shirts (for people who are heavily gassed. also helps deter recognition through clothing.)
wound care supplies (band-aids, packets of neosporin packets or a similar antibiotic, alcohol wipes, etc.; if you can, decant bactine into those little travel bottles.)
a sharpie or another type of marker (for writing bail numbers or emergency contacts on arms, hands, etc. itās not enough to have your cityās bail fund number stored on your phone; the police wonāt give it to you to look it up. give people a marker so they can write it down, preferably not washable so it isnāt easily removed.)
IMPORTANT: KNOWING FIRST AID
tear gas: if youāre hit, get out as fast and as soon as you can. take anyone you can with you. the longer youāre in the gas, the harder it will be for you to see, and it can irritate your airways, making it hard to breathe. if youāre hit, donāt run; itāll only make things worse on your lungs. when you leave the area, take a cold shower. donāt use hot water (it will only reactivate the agent); donāt bathe (it will only spread the CS around). move them to a clean and ventilated area where itās as safe as possible.
ask them if theyāre wearing contact lenses. have them remove it. if theyāre wearing glasses, rinse it with water.
solution of half liquid antacid, half water. spray from the inside going out, with the head tilted back and slightly towards the side being rinsed. if they say itās okay, open the eye slightly while doing this. (source)
bullet wounds: the most important thing is to stop the bleeding. be sure to check for an exit wound and cover that as well. treat both wounds, but treat the worse one first.

Is it possible that you could give a brief explanation of what switching without amnesia, that which an OSDD-1b system experiences, may be like?
I canāt speak for OSDD-1 systems and will let Kevin talk about his experiences below. However, I did often switch without any amnesia back when I was still switching more frequently. For me, my alters were fairly well differentiated. I could willingly switch with some of them, and that felt like handing over the reigns and then experiencing something external controlling my body. It could be pretty bizarre! In some cases, the switch was more covert or gradual even for me, and it might take me a while to realize that my actions, thoughts, feelings, or urges were out of character and that another part was present. Usually after I realized that, the part would make themself known and be more overt in their control (ie, Iād feel less like everything was coming from me as a part and would become aware of how little influence I had over some things). In a few cases, switching would be accompanied by blending, and then an alter and I would have some loss of boundaries regarding our thoughts, feelings, and actions. Occasionally, that lead to pretty bad identity confusion and depersonalization. Usually, though, it was more like mentally stepping back and letting things happen.Ā

I can share my experiences with this. Iām not a system of alters by the way, but a system of fragments with no given host and no amnesia. For me it just feels like my perspective suddenly shifts. Like Iāll go from a really severe depression where Iām potentially a danger to myself, to feeling just fine in a matter of seconds. Or Iāll be driving and will feel fine, and suddenly Iāll hear the news and will start yelling obscenities, to then be just fine again (after changing the station). When I think of something triggering I go from zero to 20,010% anger and back to zero again within seconds. My therapist seeing these shifts makes her more confident in her diagnosis. I just always thought they were mood changes and that everyone experienced the same thing, before I was diagnosed at least.
Please keep in mind that systems with alters may experience things differently. I imagine the identity shift is clearer, whereas for me itās hard because I always used to identify as just me. There are many different ways to be dissociative!

Ik you can't diagnose me but Im curious about osdd1. Ive been told by my therapist that I have compartmentalization, like I have one part for functioning, one part for anger and sadistic urges (that I can't control) and one part for suicidal thoughts, depression etc. I still respond to my name in these parts but I don't feel like myself. also I sense a presence a lot, even though the bad one is a different version of me. Is this just complex ptsd or is it dissociation? I'm very lost and upset
Hi Anon,
Iād encourage you to talk with your therapist about this. The line between CPTSD and OSDD can seem thin. Your therapist may be more or less descriptive with what they mean with their words too, so thatās also another unknown. I can share that I have been diagnosed with OSDD but that I always identified as me, which was a HUGE source of confusion for me when I was diagnosed. (I literally spent a year arguing vehemently with my poor therapist that I couldnāt possibly be dissociative because I always identified as me.) Ā
With OSDD parts need not necessarily be differentiated much, but they are dissociated form each other. I experience the difference between my parts as sudden shift in perspective. This is what happens when I switch, which is kinda a lot right now because Iām stressed and thus my system is unstable. I could easily hide the switches from others⦠expect now of course the cat is kinda out of the bag for me (i.e., because Iāve shared that Iām dissociative I donāt try to hide it as much). Ā
The one thing that really helped me understand the diagnosis is that I experienced one really huge-drastic-obvious hit-you-in-the-head switch, which did not seem to be explained by CPTSD. Another thing that helped me was that I started arguing with myself and trying to trick myself. To me that indicated to me a particular level of differentiation that was unique from CPTSD. But I would still argue that my parts are all me and not really differentiated at all. Ā
Feeling like your parts are āyou but not youā may be an experience that you wish to ask your therapist about directly in response to their descriptions of compartmentalization. You might also ask them how familiar they are with OSDD versus CPTSD and if they have a concrete opinion about where you fall and why. No matter what you deserve help for the symptoms you are experiencing.
