A Picture's Worth A Thousand Words

“I need new pictures of the Outpost.” She fessed up, smiling. “I want to order business cards and flyers, but the old hand drawn store is only cute for so long.”

“I can give you a 25% discount.”

With a sigh, he crossed his arms, surveying his collection. “Probably the Hounds of the Baskervilles. A little typical, but I’m a sucker for a good twist.”

“And who doesn’t like Sherlock Holmes?” Wes added.

“Probably best if I organise it for them, they’re still not a big fan of using owls and that. But thank you.”

Wes nodded. “You’re welcome.”

“We’re friends, right? Like, if I asked you to do me a favor that I could only afford to pay you part of right now, you’d do it anyway?” She ventured, with what she hoped was an encouraging smile.

“What do you want, Piper?” Wes asked, eye brows raised.

“God, I may have went a little too hard on the drinks last night,” Len said, sitting next to the other. “My head might explode.”

“Do you need an aspirn? I think I have some on me.”

“No I haven’t seen your shoes. Maybe they decided your feet smell too much and went to find someone with less smelly feet to use them.”

“Ha, ha, very funny. Can you please help me find them?”

“I’ve got a few.” He mused, eyes raking over the spines and looking for the familiar titles. “I’m actually missing my usual go-to, The Bell Jar, I lent it to a… a friend.”

Wes couldn’t miss Adam’s hesitation before saying the word friend, but he wasn’t one to pry. “Which is your favorite of the books you haven’t lent out?”

“Perfect! In that case that’s what I’ll do then!”

“Do you need my information to give them?”

“Don’t get me started,” Cole replied. “I’m still pretty sure they waited so long to have another kid before Xavier because of my shit kidneys. Mom also is weirdly obsessed with me talking to her about everything, which I guess is understandable, just a big pain.” Cole never really spoke to anyone, especially about his kidneys, even when it happened, which is probably why he also almost died when it happened and no one expected it.

“That’s what being part of a family is, Cole.” Wes clapped a hand on his brother’s shoulder.

“Something that’ll get them out of the house. I feel like they never do anything anymore. Which could be said of you, as well.” She teased.

“Hey, I get out plenty.”

Genie laughed, “Alright, alright. I’m doing fine. It feels a little weird being noticed and everything after the presidential ball.” She scrunched her nose at the thought, “But other than that, everything is going great. Now, you answer mine.” She smiled.

“I’ve been busy. Just working.”

Cole sighed and nodded in agreement. “Yes, I guess I can deal with that.”

“Good. Besides, I’m not nearly as over protective as Mom.”

“Oh Godric, how was that? I’m surprised to see you survived.”

“I honestly don’t know. I think I blocked the memory.”

“You make a fair point.”

“Dad, on the other hand...I never know what he’s thinking.”

“I will miss it, though.”

Wes sighed. “Fine. What do you want to do instead?”
