Roen Lowenfeld, a vampire.
Roen has lived for centuries, far too many centuries. For a couple she funded research to find a way to either revert her humanity or to essentially end her life. She didn't particularly care, she'd seen the empire grow, collapse, grow, collapse - a war after a war, endless misery.
However, something changed for a while - she met someone, another vampire, who too wanted to find a way to end the misery that came with eternal life. They spent a little over a century together, Roen could probably admit that she experienced love - something that she had never hoped to experience, given her endless lifespan.
Albeit, all of that was short lived - a century for a vampire doesn't mean much. The other vampire, the one whom she found so much comfort with disappeared one day. No word, no letter, no reason, nothing. For a while, Roen searched, desperately, but she ended that quickly - perhaps they simply didn't want to be found.
Thus, by complete chance, while returning to her estate in the Northern lands, she met the Northern Beastmen Tribe. In her eyes, they were her chance for freedom once more.
So, a deal was born - the Northern Beastmen Tribe would be permitted to reside in her estate and use it as they see fit, they would receive generous payments every year, to fund their research, however, they also had to find a way to either revert her humanity or end her life.
The beastmen didn't want to accept the initial offer, however, she persuaded them. And they've remained residents of her estate for two centuries now, still looking for an answer to her request.
Roen spends most of her time asleep, being awake is tiring, however, she does wake once a month, to take care of necessary paperwork associated with her estate - she does have citizens she's responsible for, and every year in December, she remains awake for two weeks, as she attends the Winter Ball held by the Royal Family, maybe with a silent hope of meeting that person again.
