is it weird feeling like all the hate towards jimmy olsen and jokes about him "fumbling" kara despite him doing it out of good intentions wouldn't have caught on quite so much if he was a white character? in fact if anything i feel like he would've been praised for prioritizing kara's independence and wanting the best for her. just feels like a lot of unnecessary, unrealistic hate.
and don't even get me started on the fucking cuck jokes
I agree. I don't even think this qualifies as a fumble, he didnβt fail to romance Kara, he prioritized her independence, like you said. There's a pretty strong pattern of racism in fandom spheres, so I feel like it's a safe bet that Jimmy is treated this way by fans because he's black
I will also say it feels like the show is spurring this on by also treating his end of the conflict a lot less seriously than Kara's. We get to see her struggle to figure who she is and who she wants to be, we see Jimmy⦠accidentally date supervillains. The implications of the one black main character constantly being relegated to comic relief are pretty nasty
And this is really a shame, because the conflict set up is conceptually pretty interesting. Jimmy seems to be trying to avert the cliche where a traumatized woman falls in love with the first guy who's nice to her and doesn't want a relationship where Kara is just defaulting to him, even if he wants to be with her. And then there's aspect of this where he's also just personally scared to start the relationship and is kind of making Kara jump through hoops to be with him, which adds a layer of selfishness to a largely altruistic act. It's not a cut and dry "Jimmy fucked up" but it seems no one is interested in exploring the black guy's feelings
With Lex apparently making his own Kryptonians now I think it would be very funny if we did get Kon out of this after everyone got mad about Jon
What the fuck is Mxy and Glitzy's love life
i got these knockoff boots online and instead of the brand name on the tag they have the name of an apparently nonexistent martin scorsese movie??? what the fuck
THE ORIGINAL? ON MY DASH
this post led to a series of events that had martin scorsese himself reacting to his alleged movie goncharov and it has less than 400k notes almost 3 years later?

category of blorbo called "technically i like them but fanons obsession with them to the exclusion of other characters pavloved me into having a negative reaction whenever i see them"
It's even worse when the character isn't even a full protagonist and yet is getting more attention than the ones who are
Doubly so when the protagonists are POC and the popular guy is whiteβ¦
Forgotten By History
Female firefighters at Pearl Harbor (1941).
Donna Tobias - the first woman to graduate from the US Navyβs Deep Sea Diving School in 1975.
Brave women of the Red Cross hitting the beach at Normandy.
Dottie Kamenshek was called the best player in womenβs baseball and was once recruited to play for a menβs professional team.
Kate Warne - Private Detective. Born in New York City, almost nothing is known of her prior to 1856 when, as a young widow, she answered an employment advertisement placed by Alan Pinkerton. She was one of four new agents the Pinkerton Detective Agency hired that year and proved to be a natural, taking to undercover work easily. She had taken part in embezzlement and railroad security cases when in 1861 the Pinkertons developed the first lead about an anti-Lincoln conspiracy.
Catherine Leroy, female photographer in Vietnam.
The three women pictured in this incredible photograph from 1885 β Anandibai Joshi of India, Keiko Okami of Japan, and Sabat Islambouli of Syria β each became the first licensed female doctors in their respective countries. The three were students at the Womenβs Medical College of Pennsylvania; one of the only places in the world at the time where women could study medicine.
Female Samurai Warrior - Onno-Bugeisha - Female warrior belonging to the Japanese upper class. Many women engaged in battle, commonly alongside samurai men. They were members of the bushi (samurai) class in feudal Japan and were trained in the use of weapons to protect their household, family, and honour in times of war.
One of the most feared of all London street gangs from the late 1880βs was a group of female toughs known as the Clockwork Oranges. They woulde later inspire Anthony burgessβ most notorious novel. Their main Rivals were the All-female βthe Forty Elephantsβ gang.
Maureen Dunlop de Popp, Pioneering female pilot who flew Spitfires during Second World War. She joined the Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA) in 1942 and became one of a small group of female pilots who were trained to fly 38 types of aircraft.
In 1967, Kathrine Switzer was the first woman to run the Boston marathon. After realizing that a woman was running, race organizer Jock Semple went after Switzer shouting, βGet the hell out of my race and give me those numbers.β However, Switzerβs boyfriend and other male runners provided a protective shield during the entire marathon. The photographs taken of the incident made world headlines, and Kathrine later won the NYC marathon with a time of 3:07:29.
Women have always participated in fighting; whether that is in war or in breaking down barriers that have been set in front of us by society.Β
Take inspiration from our foremothers and continue breaking down barriers, wherever you are.Β

nothing to do with my blog but how could I not reblog this???
Hey, quick point - your image for Onna Bugeisha is actually a kabuki actress. I know, because Iβve used the image for presentations on the subject. In her stead may I introduce Niijima Yae, aka Yamamoto Yaeko.
Born in 1845.
In 1868, fought at the Battle of Aizu. Her father was the gunnery instructor, and she was trained on a Spencer carbine, which she used to defend the castle.
1871, divorced her husband and went to Kyoto to find her brother, who had been taken as a POW.
1871-1898, remarried a western-educated man, co-founded two schools (including a girlsβ school), became a certified Tea Master and flower arranging instructor.
1890, following the death of her husband, became a Red Cross nurse. Served in the First Sino-Japanese War (1894-5) leading a team of 40 nurses, and the Russo-Japanese War (1904). Decorated for her service in both.
Iβm proud of people adding their own knowledge to this.
βbut adding women to [insert title] isnβt accurate!β women existed back then too, baby. history was just written by men, for men
this kind of post is so frustrating because thereβs real history mixed in with the most dreadful bullshit and bc peole are so desperate for women active in historical events they just suck it all right up without taking a moment to ask why would the vatican have a nuns rifle team (they didnt) or why is a clockwork orange so devoid of women except as victims if it was inspired by two different female gangs (because they didnt exist)
Yeah, I saw the claim about A Clockwork Orange and that immediately made me go "huh" because I had always heard that the title was a metaphor for depriving living beings of free will. So I did a little research and found absolutely nothing about a gang called the Clockwork Oranges
The rifle team is weird because the photo itself might be real but the explanation that they were a team for the Vatican can be traced back to a joke website
The Forty Elephants definitely existed though, so I can't understand why someone felt the need to invent a fake all-women gang if there already was one. We don't need to pretend to have stories where women got to participate in history, because women did participate, and making things up just obfuscates the actual history
So⦠I'm writing fanfic now?
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Coming out of left field once again with Persona 3 fanfiction!
It's a character study of Aigis and Ryoji as they team up to solve the mystery of why reality has been flipped on its head and is suddenly catering to everyone's desiresβ¦
Runs concurrently to Persona 5 Royal but the P5 characters do not make appearances sorry :(
I really wanted to explore Aigis and Ryoji because I think that's something worth going into in depth, though this is my first try at fanfiction so I'm still figuring things out
I have a horrible confession to make
I don't know which one is Dan and which one is Phil π
It's never occurred to me that they weren't just interchangeable
Watching My Adventures with Superman.
Lex and Deathstroke may think they're hot shit telling each other "mommy doesn't need you anymore", but I think if Waller ever heard them call her mommy it would end both their careers.
TFW you forgot Lex actually said it to Lane first and no one corrected you and you only realized it a year laterβ¦

"Lex is going to lose his hair from kryptonite radiation poisoning"
"Lex is going to naturally go bald early"
You all are missing the possible scenario that Lex gets gum in his hair and does a very bad job trying to cut it out and finally has to give up and shave his head
I headcanon that the further Maruki goes outside the circle of people he personally knows, the more logistically awkward his world gets
Something in the vein of playing Tetris with random people's lives because after a while I think he would have to deal with a lot of conflicting wishes and the changes he's already made requiring more changes in response to keep the world functioning
It always gets frustrating when you like morally ambiguous characters, but fans either try to sugarcoat and justify their less palatable aspects or make them out to be the actual devil
I think the issue with Maruki isn't that trying to make a better world is naive or that you shouldn't prevent suffering, but that he decided he was the only person who could decide what that better world looked like
Sumire starts recovering from her grief without him, and Maruki says it would be nice if she could maintain it, but he doesn't believe that's possible without his help. Akechi repeatedly explains he doesn't want his help because he doesn't trust Maruki not to take his autonomy, and Maruki tells Joker to decide his fate. He chooses to ignore the Phantom Thieves even while they're literally screaming at him to stop meddling because he is convinced he knows better than them
Maruki is not in the wrong for wanting to improve the world and mitigate suffering, he's in the wrong because he treats his views as the only ones that matter
voter suppression against black people is reaching Jim Crow era levels in the US so please get registered to vote now, learn who's going to be on your ballot in advance, try to talk some sense into your conservative relatives or coworkers (diplomatically), and, when November rolls around, vote to make Republicans lose as many seats as possible. there are many other things to do, of course, but the midterms will have a massive impact on the future of civil rights.
The next three elections are incredibly critical to turning back the fascist wave.
2026 - Make the Republicans hurt for all the ways they're trying to strip people of their votes and put a check on Trump. We can flip the House and maybe even the Senate and actually put some of the checks the Constitution intended back in place. SCOTUS is still fucked and not a lot will get passed over Trump's veto, but we can stop the bleeding.
2028 - Get Trump, Vance, and all the fascists out of the Executive Branch. It's also the only way to start on SCOTUS reform and getting back on the right track. This is also the president who will be overseeing the next census that controls which states get how many Congresspeople.
2030 - State legislatures will be the absolute MOST important races this cycle. These legislators are the ones who will be drawing the maps for the next 10 years of elections. Republicans used 2010 to completely rewrite maps across the country; Democrats need to do it in 2030.

"oh look! another bathroom bill requiring transgender people to go to the bathroom of their AGAB! but how would this possibly work with them?" *posts picture of hypermasculine transgender men*
you still don't get it, do you?
it has never truly been about grouping us back with our assigned gender. that's an excuse.
it's about defining gender really narrowly based on bodies and presentation in a way that disproportionately affects transgender people.
"go to the bathroom of your AGAB" is a slightly more acceptable way to say "if you don't look exactly like we expect men or women to look, we're coming for you". it's absolutely what they mean, but if they say that out loud they know they're gonna sound absolutely dangerous.
they have never wanted transgender men and nonbinary people in women's bathrooms. chances are we go in there and get accused of being "biologically male" if we don't look "right".
it has never been about grouping us in with our AGAB. it's always been about excluding us from public life altogether, making sure we're not safe anywhere, always scrutinised.
they didn't "forget" that transgender men and nonbinary people exist. they just don't want us to exist either.
it's time to look at what they're actually doing and not just what they say they're doing.
It doesn't make any sense for its supposed purpose either
It's incredibly unlikely to actually stop women from being assaulted because someone who was already willing to do that probably isn't going to care what a sign on a door says
In no way does it make washrooms a "safe zone". They'll become places where people can justify calling the cops on anyone they want because that someone didn't look feminine or masculine enough
