Have May be his anchor. Period. Full stop. No I’m not saying he can’t have any other mentors or ~father figures~ - Ultimate Peter in particular had a mentor relationship with Nick Fury. I’m saying that May Parker is the (1) constant in Peter Parker’s life and going forward SHE SHOULD BE.

A second bullet point because this makes me mad: I GET that Marisa Tomei herself said she wanted May to be someone “cool and hip” but there is a BIG DIFFERENCE between being a cool and hip mom and the blatant sexualisation and casually dismissive way the MCU had treated May, always in favor of a white man (Tony in HOCO, Happy in FFH). Please Marvel, if you say you care about women then act like it and let May Parker be a cool mom that has LAYERS.

SPIDEY FIVE!!!!! Unlike a lot of hellions on this website, comic nerds who want to surgically erase MJ and Ned as they are in favor of the all white coffee bean gang make me wanna roll my eyes to kingdom come. If I’m the new overlord of the MCU, MCU MJ and Ned stay as they are and we have the ADDITION of Gwen and Harry. We’ve already twisted origins around so maybe they’re students post-Blip. Who knows. They’re also not white because why.

I want Peter to be more explicitly struggling with money. This is. This is core to who he is. You can grow up in a world that hero worshipped Iron Man, can be !!!! that you actually knew him, and still think eat the rich. It’s a shame that such a core part of Peter’s character is washed away and for WHAT.

I want Cindy back!!!! Felicia!!! A whole story centered on Venom!!! There is so much WORLD to the Spider-Man mythos that ranges from really cool to really weird. USE IT.

However, this is where it gets tricky and where I will always be disappointed because the MCU is first and foremost not a storytelling machine - it’s a franchise. Spider-Man being in the MCU, as with any character, means that any decisions that are made arguably should have ramifications towards the greater universe. Not to mention actual studio involvement and contract negotiations like we saw in CACW. Movie making is a business and super hero movie making is an entirely different breed. MCU Peter is never gonna look like how I want him to because? He financially can’t, much less creatively.

The thing is— Spider-Man IS usually a lonely hero that has some team ups here and there but by and large does his own thing in his own little world. He is inherently not conducive to big and major universe wide plots because he is, as they correctly said in HOCO, always wanting to look out for the little guy. I love him being in the MCU because I love the CONNECTIONS he can make... but it always come with the caveat that at the end of the day, Peter’s story doesn’t matter - money does.

Doesn’t mean I’m still not a Spider-Man shill that won’t be there watching it. I just really want Peter to carry off the lesson he learned in FFH - that he is a hero. To trust himself and his abilities. To know that he’s gonna mess up but that doesn’t mean he gives up.
