Earl Grey tower built 1832 by Lt. Colonel Thornhills of Stanton Hall on Stanton Moor to commemorate Earl Grey's reform bill which gave every man the right to vote. Charles 2nd Earl Grey was the Whig Prime Minister in 1830 when only the rich had voting rights.
