The team at Ironworks, along with artist Alfie Bradley, discussed the idea of creating an Angel sculpture made completely out of knives to grab attention and bring the issue of knife crime to the front of society’s consciousness.  They contacted the Home Office to ask their permission to collect surrendered knives and weapons from all 43 UK police forces in the hope the knives could form the main part of the sculpture. This would show the sheer volume that the country is dealing with.  This was also in the hope that this initiative would bring about the introduction of new knife amnesties with the Ironworks offering to supply each force with knife banks completely free of charge. Credit to @gloriousbritain : This the magnificent Saltburn Cliff Lift. It was built in 1884 to stop people clambering down the steep cliff to get to the pier and is one of the world's oldest water-balanced funiculars. Before the cliff lift there was a rudimentary vertical hoist system in place but once this beauty arrived tourism in the area boomed. The original wooden carts have been replaced with aluminium carriages but otherwise the cliff lift are as built all those years ago! A wonderful day walking/hiking at Pistyll Rhaeadr in Wales. An absolutely incredible place and somewhere that should be on everyone’s “must visit” list. Even the top of the falls is worth the walk up and there is a hike that includes the falls whilst taking in Cadair Berwyn. Perfect!
