â  you wouldnât be â thatâs what team is for, to have your back if you slip,  â  he said, smiling at ron and shaking his head.  â  â- yeah, sorry for that. thought iâm selfish enough to say that iâm glad you all are here. itâs less⌠dark,  â  he added quietly, playing with his glass. more alive, sirius wanted to say, but it wasnât something he feels like he could. it wasnât up to ron, to any of weasleys really, not up to anybody to make this place less of what it was â a museum of the ruins that was left of his family, with ghosts peering around corners and portraits that watch every move. maybe thatâs how his family was mean to end â the black name left in the dirt, drowned in blood and shadows.
he laughed â loud sound bouncing off walls â at ronâs disgusted tone, grinning to him.  â  oh, câmon. i swear, it would look good!  â  he let himself have it, the few moments of carefree joking. he was ready to make fun of the âembarrassingâ comment when it hits him what offer ronâs presented him. sirius couldnât help but look at him a little more serious, a gentle smile tugging at the corners of his lips as he nodded.  â  that wouldâ that would be great, ron.  â  he felt the rush of fondness going through his body and merlin, he was so glad harry had ron as his friend.
â i donât want to disappoint them, â ron let out, avoiding siriusâs gaze. the team was a well oiled machine and he was afraid that he was going to be the one to ruin it all. it made him nervous and scared of not being good enough.â for what itâs worth, iâm glad iâm here, even if iâm forced to clean.â ron said, forgetting for a brief moment about his quidditch problems and instead focusing on sirius. perhaps, people were right about the mental instability of sirius after coming back from azkaban but ron wasnât going to make sirius feel bad about his situation. none of this was siriusâs fault.
for a brief second, ron looked stunned at hearing sirius laugh and then felt a sense of pride of making him laugh. â i disagree completely. what about it would look good? and donât say your legs again.â ron teased, with a small smile on his face. expecting a retort to his comment, ron was confused at siriusâs stare. he didnât consider what he said to be mind blowing and was a bit flustered at siriusâs reaction.â yeah, of course.â he stammered out before his ears turned red.â itâs an open invitation and i donât tthink anyone has a problem with you coming over. in fact, mum might happy that she could feed more people.â
