Her eyes – which were usually already quite big and round – grew wider at Hermione’s outburst, though not in judgement or surprise. She knew about Hermione Granger’s fierceness, and had long ago decided she liked that about her ( not that she’d told the other about that as of yet ). So Luna listened, eyes wide with intrigue, lips sealed together until Hermione was done. Not because it seemed best not to interrupt – which was definitely true as well, but not something Luna considered – but because she was curious to hear what she had to say.
“The public believing the lies the Prophet writes should come as no surprise,” she said airily. “That’s been happening for years, after all – since the paper started, I’m sure. I do think it might have something to do with people’s heads being a bit fuzzy – maybe because of wrackspurts, but I’m not entirely sure – because it is rather daft, to believe the nonsense those editors write.” A pause. Luna realised that if she didn’t stop, she’d end up discussing the shady history of the Prophet in a long rant, forgetting the more pressing issues Hermione had brought up. “It is quite terrible, the way they write about Harry Potter. I do believe him, of course. And then what they wrote about Sirius Black is nonsensical as well, of course. Haven’t you heard the latest news on him, and his innocence?” Luna didn’t wait for an answer, rummaging through her bag and producing the latest edition of the Quibbler. “It’s all in here.”
ah , the quibbler, she’d heard of this a while back, receiving an actual copy of the press not long ago. this was something that didn’t presumably seem, factual. graciously enough, a seldom smile quirks over her features, nodding softly as she took what was offered. “ thank you luna.” lips purse slightly, features distorted as to depict which range of expression would be appropriate, without showing her innate irritability. “ harry, ronald, and i are so gracious of you & your father’s support. for those that do read will hopefully be guided to actually think for themselves. “ a hushed sigh passes pressed lips, looking down at the glass before her.
“ i fear that this is the beginning of a long, exuberant list of tragedies that’s going to change everything. not the mention the rumors that are being passed around. the ministry’s mad because they have no idea what’s going on anymore. that uh ------ hang on. “ lithe hands slide her purse over her lap, quickly finding her wand, whispering low enough nobody else would hear her. “ a small charm to keep those who can’t be trusted awry. it’s super helpful when you don’t want to be heard, like when harry & i ------ nevermind. “ finally hermione met the blonde girl’s gaze, rolling her shoulders slightly. “ how are you luna, has your holiday been well ? “
