not all those who wander are lost

Hi friends.

As of late, my activity has not been up to par. I’ve been slow with replies and private messages on Discord often slip my mind. It isn’t intentional at all... I have not been able to concentrate for the past 2-3 weeks. And I apologize to all of those I have had trouble getting back to. Your friendships really mean the world to me.

I... don’t really have an excuse. I suffer from manic depression and I can feel the season sending me into an unexpected bout of depression. It really is irritating, because I do not have much to feel sad about at all. I finished the semester with nothing below a B, and now I have three weeks to do absolutely nothing. But, as I’m sure many of you know, the human mind doesn’t make sense a lot of the time. It’s a finicky thing.

I’m going to try and practice self care and catch up on all of the things that I’ve been setting aside due to school. Again, I apologize. I might be slow, but I’ll try my best to get there. Thank you for being patient with me.

Is there anything character-wise or writing style-wise that you can’t stand?

Interesting question. As for writing styles, not particularly. I understand that everyone has a different style/skill level. I started roleplaying when I was 14 years old, and had someone told me that I was a poor writer back then, I may not still be writing today. I would hate to discourage someone in that manner.

As long as someone provides momentum for the plot and gives me something to work with, I’m perfectly happy. I’ve had writers who write brilliantly for 1000+ words barely move the story forward an inch, and conversely I’ve had writers that can move the story along in less than 500 words. Personally, I prefer the latter.

Has your character(s) changed over the time that you have been playing them? How have they changed?

This is tough. This is real tough. Steven is…very personal to me. I’ve roleplayed him for four years now, back before ORAS came out. Hoenn has always been very dear to my heart, and seeing how Steven is the face of the region, well…it was only natural he was my first character here on Tumblr.

11. What one character you’ve thought of RPing but haven’t yet?

Lucy - I’ve loved Lucy since I first played Emerald version, but alas I’ve never had quite enough muse to write her properly. 

Mina - I love Mina. So much. The quirky artist aesthetic, the paint all over her clothes. She reminds me of when I used to carry around oil paintings non-stop in high school, ruining my entire wardrobe. I’d still consider her.

Elesa - I tried Elesa once admittedly, but it was very short lived. I’d love to give her another go. I’d make her spunky yet elegant. Sort of like Lady Gaga.

17. What is your weakest point in writing? Angst, fluff, dialogue, etc.?

“I do.”

“You never allow your beliefs to be compromised. Even in the face of a world that has disenfranchised you and your people, you are steadfast and tenacious. To me, you possess the ultimate strength - the strength of honor.”

2. Something that irritates me or annoys me about you:

“Not to understate things, but you can be rather...reckless. I know it’s in your nature, but sometimes I do fear it will end badly. I’m aware there is no telling you what to do, but I insist...do be more careful?”

3. Something about you that I’m jealous of:

“I suppose I’m jealous of your culture, Zinnia. Not that I would ever envy the atrocities that have been committed upon your people, as that’s rather insensitive... I understand fully what sort of privilege I was brought up in. I simply wish I was instilled with a deeper connection to nature growing up, as you were. To live within the natural world without any care for the greed that perpetuates modern society... now that is the dream.” 

4. Something about you I’ve noticed that I bet you don’t think I realize:

“I know you are not fully recovered, Zinnia. I... never expect you to be, and I will never ask such things of you. And though I know you’ll most likely reject that statement with all of your might, I want you to know... that you do not have to always put up this exhaustive front. But until that day, I’ll gladly be the brunt of all of your jokes.”

5. A thought I’ve had about you that I’d be embarrassed to tell you:

It had to be some sort of trap. He glanced around without daring to move his head, knowing that she had to be somewhere watching, expecting the appropriate answer.

In a small, whispered tone he responded:

“No.”

He looks down, a deep, ragged breath escaping his lips before he regains robotic composure, looking up at the other with a withdrawn gaze.

“Devon is the pinnacle of modern science. The Hoenn region would be lost without my father’s vision. Every invention and every action of his brings nothing but unbridled joy to the people of this land.”

His tone does not change, but you notice his hands clench against his sides, his knuckles white beneath the rings that adorn them.
