Autism Representation written by an allistic: My name is John Autism and I like the designated autistic interests
unintentionally autistic character written by the creator who hasn't really thought about whether or not theyre autistic: I wish I could be human like the way everyone else is but I know they can tell I'm not. And I know they're right
Have I got a song for you!
Getting to hear this as the opener for the For My Last Trick tour was incredibly special to my soul because I relate so hard to this feeling
supergirl kills me for a lot of reasons but she had to see krypton die for reasons unforseeable and nobody could do anything about it. like we are seeing earth die right now for reasons we could stop it but we just arent
You're not always nice, but you're kind.
ohhhh I love this I love her
My favorite thing about the Boys is them consistently going "we will introduce a super interesting concept and do absolutely nothing with it"
My second favorite thing is when they do introduce something interesting and then really, really mess it up
There are several moments in the show where something will be mentioned in passing or whatever and I'm like "huh, I'd actually rather be watching that right now instead of another needless scene put in for shock value humor"
If you've had moments like that, comment which thing they brought up that you wish they'd explored more
I'm including Gen V in this because there's no way we can talk about "we're going to introduce a super interesting concept and do absolutely nothing with it" and leave out Project Odessa. The entirety of Gen V Season 2's plot revolved around Marie being the only other surviving member of Project Odessa besides Homelander. (Even if the gang didn't know it at the time.)
Marie's got control over cells. Not just blood. She could coax the body into healing itself. She resurrected Annabeth. She's easily god-tier even if she only had control of blood.
We have absolutely no clue what the extent of her powers was. Could she have been able to neutralize compound V if Godolkin had pushed her far enough? We have no idea, because Marie was cast to the side the minute her show wrapped its season. Maybe she could have. Maybe that was going to be the big hit against HL. Project Odessa was built up to have produced the only supe on or surpassing Homelander's power level. The only one. And I feel like her absurd amount of power was abandoned in favor of Kimiko getting the depowering beam and nuking Homelander instead.
I'd actually argue to classify Project Odessa as a MacGuffin at this point, with how it was the absolute driving force of Gen V S2 and then might as well have just ceased to exist in-universe for The Boys S5, because I don't even think it was mentioned once the whole season.
Marie deserved better.
Vought mass-produced superheroes, but before that, Vought built a couple of gods. One of them was cast aside while the other ascended and then got destroyed.
Biggest waste of absolute power I've seen in any superhero media, possibly ever.
I haven't seen Gen V yet, but it seems like they definitely fumbled it hard from what I've seen other people say - though I have the unpopular opinion that they should have just kept the Gen V characters out of it entirely if they weren't going to do something big with them because, as someone who hadn't seen the other show, I was so confused why they were even there because they had no bearing on the plot of the main show in the way that they hadn't written them in that season to be important despite how important they seem to have been in Gen V
(Apologies for GV spoilers)
As a Gen V enjoyer, I agree with you. On one hand, it was really nice to see Marie and Emma and Jordan one last time since GV was canceled by the time TBS5 started airing. I went into S5 knowing that Gen V characters would be in it to some degree (although we didn't know who or in what capacity), but I loved those characters and missed them and so getting them at all was appreciated.
On the other hand, they were useless to the plot (Cate was shown on the wall of psychics and wasn't even used as a psychic on screen) as far as they did things that could have been done by other means and it would have made zero impact that the GV gang wasn't who did it.
I can’t believe they canceled that show but they will still be making *Vought Rising* of all things
Oh to imagine how The Boys Season 5 would have gone if it wasn't turned into a "how can we stuff as many Vought Rising setup references into 8 episodes as possible?" situation.
Because why have the show about superpowered college students when we can have a show about supernazi?

"we need more complex female characters." you guys can't even handle supergirl.

the supergirl scene that made me happiest, as a dyspraxic person w sound sensitivity, is the scene that shows kara using music over headphones to block out her super hearing bc I do that too 🥹 and I hope neurodivergent kiddos w the same sensitivity get to see that too.

I played One (1) game as a support and had a tank spamming that they needed healing (as I, and the other support) were actively and nonstop healing them) as they kept running into the enemy spawn and after that game I am now queued up for dps again. WHY do that on Midtown of all maps
as a longtime support main, average support gameplay tbh
they need to make it so that if players spam “I need healing” they’re blocked from queueing until they complete a course in the training range about grabbing health packs and not feeding enemy ult charge for free
occasionally you get games like this though and it makes playing support especially worth it
My secondary main was Brig back when she came out before I stopped playing for a while, I just forgot how bad it was 😭. I always make sure to thank and give a "good work" to my supports whenever they heal me or look after the team!!!
It was my 1st time playing Lifeweaver, and the Junker Queen player wouldn't stop spamming while she essentially ran into oncoming traffic even tho me & our Juno p much had to focus on healing her (our other teammates were fine). Like I know we did a good job I was just a little overwhelmed lol.
I had to turn chats off bc ppl were being too mean, so I'm really glad to see that ppl appreciate their teammates and do so outside of the dialogue wheels!!! Best of luck out there, I know it's tough work 🫡💖
Brig is one of the few supports (Alongside Wuyang and Cat) that I haven't put much time into learning, although I'm trying to improve with her to help teams w/ a more brawly comp.
That's honestly one of those moments where you just life grip the JQ the best you can and past that, heal the rest of your team (which I'm sure you & Juno were taking care of when not babysitting your tank), and hope it eventually clicks in their head.
It's the downside of playing support: you can stuff your teammates to the gills with healing, but if they can't capitalize on being alive, you can't force a win. You can play your heart out, but if you're playing with bricks-for-brains randoms, it's a wash. I had a match like that earlier on Neon Junction (yay extra XP) and just basically used it to practice brig util since the game was lost anyway.
A lot of qp players seem to ignore the fact that every support that can heal at distance, with the sole exception of Zen's harmony orb, must have line of sight in order to dispense heals. Juno's heal torpedoes can pass through walls, but ofc that requires at best an uninterrupted half second LOS for lock-on, and most likely a full second in reality since these players are going to be maxing lock-on range if they're even in it at all.
Hopefully you have good matches from here on out! 🖤 🫡
Should you want to play support in QP still, I'm down if you ever want to queue for it. (assuming time zones line up)

i absolutely love chatting w/ authors about their fics bc we’re both hella into the source material so we get to fangirl out over all the best parts PLUS i get to show my appreciation for the little personal author things they did!!

oh my god, wait wait wait, mads, did you do the cover art for Mothica’s Somewhere In Between lofi version? I just saw the cover art and it rang so many bells 🖤🖤
not only did I do the lofi cover, I did the illustration for the animated video, AND the cassette packaging 😏
that’s so cool! it definitely had your style and I think it turned out super well! you always do such cool stuff w/ moth! 🖤
I just went and checked out the animated video and oh my god the vibes are off the charts! those green glowing candles absolutely set the mood!
As per the requests on this post, I have finished fic number 4! If you don't know what I'm talking about or you're just interested in what the premise is, here's a description of the fic:
Firecracker has a brilliant idea. Hire a shapeshifter/doppelganger to pretend to be Starlight and record a video of the two of them to blackmail her, but things don't go entirely according to plan
Here's the link!
This looks SO incredibly fun, I love the premise and cannot wait to dive into this tonight! (I have to catch up on AO3, been busy these last few weeks!)
I think the shapeshifter angle is really funny bc of Annie’s encounter with a shapeshifter in S04.
So excited for this!!!
