A miserable weekend battling strep, not eating much that didn't have the fluidity of soup meant that when I finally felt good enough for solid foods today, a grocery trip had to happen. hits to go old school. I walked into the grocery store to get dumplings tbh, took a glance at potatoes, thought how much I've missed them and how it's perfect stew weather, then of course thought, fuck stew, bourguignon is the best! Also the excuse to get good wine and serve it all on simple(duck fat, butter, garlic, Parm, sweet potato, potato) mashed potatoes. So after the bacon, stewing beef, carrot, onion, garlic, wine, herbs and magic do their thing for 4 hours I finally get to enjoy this meal that occurred on a whim. I also got the dumplings.
