Hank squints at Barba as he talks. He must have been hit pretty hard if he's telling this to Hank, of all people. He doesn't know exactly what happened-- him and his parents were already inside when they heard a commotion from the front steps. Then some gossip about a man being assaulted as he walked towards the door. High society has always been a nosy group.

The assailant had fled by the time Hank pushed past the murmuring crowd. No one had thought to move Barba up away from the street, so he ended up pulled away by probably the last person he'd want to see.

Hank looks away as Barba clearly tries to maintain composure around the blood and swelling he's likely to get. His jacket had been discarded soon after they pulled into the small patio off of the manor, so his hands find the small buttons on his shirt cuffs to play with instead, face twisting into a frown as Barba dismisses what sound like numerous threats against him through the blood in his mouth. "You don't know they're not serious. The kinda friends these guys have... wouldn't be the first to blame the judge for their buddy getting locked up. Or, uh, the prosecutor."

Only, some other woman comes into view. NOT Buttercup. He's never seen her before in his life. She clearly feels the same, as she spots him with a glare. "Hey! Knock it off or I'll call the cops!"

"Sorry, uh, ma'am." He shuffles a few steps down the sidewalk, gravel still held out of view. Maybe he miscounted the windows.

The bag slides awkwardly, heavy fabric weighing it down. But the intention is clear. Peeking through the thin plastic is a dark jacket. Probably a touch big, but he figures that's not bad for Bob. Kinda blue, with a dark collar. Not too far from the sweatshirts Bob wears. A little sturdier, and lined. Better for outside, if Bob wanted to go. Package delivered. He dusts his hands for a job well done, and to shake off the crumbs. Hank turns to the fridge, rooting around for a soda. "Want a drink?"

And while everyone seemed to have a drink in hand, he hadn't found food anywhere. Big fancy party and they couldn't get any catering. It's like an artist thing, Ren would probably say. He guesses to keep everyone skinny and drunk or something. He opens his phone with a sigh, letting the river of people flow around him. A blonde girl in black launger... lawnge.. black clothes had bumped into him earlier and spilled her drink and when he turned around she smiled at him with fangs. He was sticky, and hungry, and didn't know anyone here. And he definitely saw someone with a wolf tail. Guess Ren was excited about coming, though. Kept talking about it all week.

Though she wasn't here yet, and-- he looked down at his phone-- there was a Big Belly Burger fifteen minutes away. He could probably make it back before she got here. When he looks up, there's a lady staring at him. Like, creepy staring. He stares at her staring, but he can't remember if he's even seen her blink, so he backs down first. "Uh, hi...?"

Very much so! Whether he is a hero, or how good of a hero he is, is a different question. But in terms of how he sees himself:

As long as Hank is Hawk, he always believes he is a hero. When he is first beginning and he's still young, it's a belief of eagerness and arrogance and naiveness. Of course he is a hero. He's fighting bad guys, he's stopping criminals, and that's what heroes do. That is who heroes are. It is the simplest thing in his life. The most complicated is only why other people don't see it as clearly as he does.
