Chisk finds themselves looking up into the caveâs mouth, the faint light from the outside streaming in. They feel the soft padding of the flowers beneath them. Â The flowers must have broken their fall. Â There was one problem, though. Â They donât remember falling down any holes.
Actually, this wasnât the only problem. Â There were many problems that were quickly rising up in Chiskâs mind. Â They look around at the unfamiliar walls of the underground. Â Or at least, they were somewhat familiar, but there was no way they could have suddenly ended up here again. Â Unless all of the previous adventures had been just a dream and they only just now woke up. Â It was possible, Chisk thought, that it all could have been premonitions of the future, but probably more likely that all of the previous events were just wishful thinking and what really lied beyond that dark and scary door at the end of the hall were things too sinister for Chiskâs already constantly troubled mind to comprehend. Â Maybe if they just sit in the flowers, Chisk thinks, they wonât have to find out what really was past that door. Â Maybe itâd be someone nice, instead of that mean flower they had met before. Â But it was also possible it was the flower, if not something even worse. Â If they just sat here, theyâd never know the brave adventures that could take place down here. Â But if they just sat there, theyâd also never have to know the terrifying dangers that lurked in the waiting shadows.
Chisk sits there for a whole minute, completely still, until they hear groaning from slightly behind them. Chisk scrambles to get off of whatever they were sitting on. Â Was it a monster? Â And not the friendly kind they had probably dreamed about?
Looking at the spot they had just been in, they see another child lying face down in the flowers. They hadnât realized it, but Chisk hadnât just landed in the patch of yellow flowers, but had also been sitting on Fraraâs torso. Â Chisk runs back over to their friend, reaching to help them up but hesitates, not sure if Frara would be mad that Chisk had accidentally been sitting on them. Â They flusteredly sign several apologies before realizing that Frara hadnât actually lifted their head yet and wouldnât be able to see Chisk signing.
They want to help Frara up, but they had already just been standing there like an idiot for several seconds doing nothing. Â Would Frara think it was weird? Â They probably would. Â First sitting on them, and then just hovering over them awkwardly? Â It was more than weird, it was completely stupid of them.
Chisk had begun vibrating slightly as Frara finally raise their head out of the flowers and dirt. Â Frara groans again as they get up, looking around at the first room. Â âWhere are we?â Frara demands, confused at their abrupt return to the start of the underground. Â They then see Chisk standing next to them, shaking silently, their eyes staring off into space from worry.
Frara approaches Chisk, reading their expression and body language like a book. Â They energetically hug Chisk, calming them down and letting them know that whatever they were worried about, they were forgiven. Â Chiskâs vibrating gets stronger, but they sign a small thank you and timidly stick close to Fraraâs side while Frara examines the room.
âLooks like weâre back where we started.â
Frara begins to make way for the dark and looming door but Chisk falls behind, afraid of what might be beyond it. Â Frara sees this and walks back over to Chisk, reassuring them that itâll all be okay as long as they stick together. Â Chisk remains still a bit longer, and then crouches down, offering to carrying their short pal on their back like their dream. Â Only it probably wasnât a dream, since Frara remembers it. Â Unless you can share dreams?
Frara brings Chiskâs focus back as they climb up on their back. Â Chisk then strides forward into the dark hallway through the door, hanging onto Fraraâs legs while Frara wraps their little arms around Chiskâs shoulders.
They could hear echoes of yelling and screaming rumbling through the narrow walk. Â Traversing their way back through the ruins, the duo tentatively approach the source of the echoes.
âFRISK I SWEAR TO GOD GIVE IT BACK.â
Iâll give it back in exchange for a smooch, Frisk silently signs back.
âChara, donât you have like a whole bottomless box full of chocolate bars?â Asriel comments.
âTHIS IS THE LAST OF THE BEST KIND!â Chara yells back. Â ânnNNOO FRISK!! DONâT EAT IT!â Â Chara tackles Frisk to the ground, reaching for the bar of pure goodness while Frisk keeps it out of armâs reach, giggling all the while.
All three kids freeze when they see the two new kids, a tall one giving a shorter one a piggyback ride.
The five of them stare at each other for a few seconds before Frara breaks the silence with a, âHowdy!â
Chara had gotten up and exchanges a surprised look with Asriel. Â Frisk waves a happy hand with a simple, âHI!â in response.
I had a need to write something about these 5 adorable children inspired by @underchara and I just COULDNâT STOP. Â There might even be more later. Â Watch as this becomes a whole fanfic, MEANWHILE, MY OTHER FIC CONTINUES TO SIT IN THE DUST UUGGHH.
