I don’t understand at all how being besties with other gay people falls under a specific flag… when it’s friends

So a lot of times people in QPRs are more affectionate in their appropriate love language than the are with friends. QPR partners often engage in activities they wouldn't with other friends (cuddling, kissing on lips, sometimes even having intercourse or engaging in foreplay as well as other intimate non-sexual acts normally reserved for lovers).

So for example, in the QPR (had our one year anniversary two months ago) I'm in, we kiss on the cheeks and peck on the lips (not normal for friends in my area) and hold hands with palms touching (something I'm only comfortable doing with them and romantic partners).

A brief way to describe it would be like friendship+, because the feelings are strictly platonic/non-romantic (not the same thing!!! Feelings are very confusing!!!).

It's really common for Aro Ace people or Asexual people in general to form a QPR as a way to express and receive these affections without the pressure of having to form a romantic relationship.

Some LGBTQ people call their BFFs QPR partners simply because the bond or feeling the feel for this person is simply different than what they feel for the rest of their friends.

Similarly, it could also be described as the polar opposite of being FWB with someone, because you do things society deems "romantic" with a person but the feelings between the to partners is NOT romantic.

tl;Dr it's a friend you do romantic shit with but make it ✨gay✨

Also idk who's saying that about queer platonic relationships but like... Ew. They're not better than any other kind of friendship or relationship, it's just a different type.
