âSea Starâs Magical Armâ- Dec. 2017
Inspired by a dream I had of four limbed sea stars by the coast.Â
Also, as I was doing online research, I discovered information about a mysterious disease that is wiping out sea star populations (they just waste away into white goo). Scientists have been trying to solve this disease since 2013. (:

It doesnât have to be malicious to be ableism.
When you say âAwwâ when you hear of someone doing something for a disabled person, thatâs ableism.
When you feel inspired because you saw a story about a disabled person going on with their life âdespite their disabilityâ and youâre able bodied, thatâs ableism.
When a parent of a disabled child says their child taught them so much about life and what it means to live, thatâs ableism.
When disabled kids are called sweet little innocent angels just because theyâre disabled, thatâs ableism.
When you tell my daughter that she must do a lot for her mother (because her mother is blind), thatâs ableism.
When you are âjust trying to helpâ after they have said âNoâ, that is ableism. Â
When you are just trying to help, when they have said no, and it involves physical contact with the person, that is criminal assault. Â Like it or not, thatâs what it is. Â Oh, and itâs ableism.Â
When they are your âspecialâ friend, thatâs ableism.
The worst one is when the high school makes the disabled kid the Prom King out of pity.
When my very presence makes you so uncomfortable that you have to fill the awkward silence with probing and inappropriate questions. Thatâs ableism.

Awkward Wheelchair One Liners: An Annoying List
Warning:Â The following is a list of terrible wheelchair puns / one liners delivered to me at some point by some mouth-breathing idiot. UrbanCripple.com is not responsible for any fits of rage or monitor-punching that reading this list might cause.
[At an event with assigned seating] âYou have the best seat in the house!â
âWanna race?â
âYou should get spinners/rims/hydraulics for that thing!â
âSlow down!â âNo speedingâ, or some other comment regarding me violating some kind of traffic law while indoors.
âYou should get a motorized one!â [You should get a lobotomy!]
âMan, Iâve always thought about how much fun it would be to be in a wheelchairâ
[Anytime thereâs a lack of seating around me] âIâll just sit in your lapâ
Anything ending in âSpeed Racerâ or a reference to me being an actual motor vehicle.
âHey, Speedy!â [Hey, Jackass!]
âYou know, I believe that [the holy spirit/Jesus/Optimus Prime/The Doctor] is gonna heal you someday.â [Blood shoots out my eyes in a fit of rage]
[If I happen to be with, near, or within eyesight or earshot of another person in a wheelchair] âDo you guys race?â
âYouâre so inspiring!â
âYour arms must be huge!â
âI bet you really get an arm workout on this hill!â
âWe should arm wrestle sometime.â [Creepy]
âYou move really well in that thing!â [Youâre pretty good with those fancy legs]
âI appreciate your independenceâ [I appreciate you not talking to me]
[Every time Iâm mistaken for some other guy they saw in a wheelchair once]
âDo you know [some other guy in a wheelchair]?â [Yes, we meet twice a week to talk about ramps and how hard life is (so hard). Everyone. In a wheelchair]
âI donât know if Iâd have the will to do what you doâ [Translation: âIf I were like you, Iâd probably kill myself!â]
âYour personality is so big I totally forgot you were in a wheelchair!â [Drops Mic]
Did I miss one? Have you heard one I havenât? Leave a note!
