When the late Jesse Haddock (‘52) took over as @wakemgolf coach in 1960, he accepted the job determined to produce top quality teams. What he produced was, in fact, a collegiate golf dynasty. Haddock, shown at left in 2011 with Arnold Palmer (‘51) and Sen. Richard Burr (‘78), was highly regarded as a recruiter and motivator. Many of his players including Curtis Strange (‘77), Lanny Wadkins (‘72), Jay Haas (‘76), Jerry Haas (‘85), Gary Hallberg (‘80), Jay Sigel (‘67), Billy Andrade (‘87), Jim Simons and Len Mattiace went on to outstanding @pgatour Careers.
