The way he dodges around being violent unless pushed, his refusal to be anything less than civil unless his frustration gets the better of him, his rather innocent use of vicissitude, tries to quell the coterie's concerns that he's a monster (rationalize that he wants to protect the neighborhood to Fuego (albeit in his own way), telling Angela to be honest so Serif isn't uncomfortable, etc), he really doesn't read to me as someone who wants to relish in being as demented and beastial as possible. He also bites back at his beast a lot, not wanting to cause a scene despite its taunting and protest.

I don't think Isaac hates being a vampire at all, I just think he hates not having total control over his vampirism; and it bothers him. I think Isaac wants to feel like he's in the front seat at all times. Even when his beast takes over and overreacts (ie: smashing a guys face in the pavement and stealing things), Isaac tends to rationalize it in his head and seems to take pride in his coterie seeing him as a pinnacle of keeping it together.

I love Isaac's relationship with Michael and Angela, because I think it's a great demonstration of how the dividing line between Humanity and Beast isn't always so clean, and the two can easily shade into each other.

to Isaac Brooke, former mortal, Michael and Angela are his friends who he cares about and will protect. to Isaac the Tzimisce fledgling, Michael and Angela are his possessions that he doesn't like other people touching.
