itās so magical and beautiful that there are sprawling interconnected cave systems carved deep into the earth by various geological forces and you donāt have to go in them. there are miles and miles of stone passageways in total darkness that require you to exhale all the air out of your lungs to squeeze through parts of them and you donāt have to be there. some of these squeezes are underwater and require cave divers to take off their oxygen tanks and push them through ahead of them and me i am above ground looking at the sky as we speak. there are untold subterranean wonders no human has ever seen and i will not be the one to discover them #grateful #blessed

Hornet Silksong done for @creatingblackcharacters DTIYS! I saw that this week was Hornet, and figured it was the perfect time to gather motivation and finally draw my human Hornet design. She's been in my brain for so long, it's nice to finally have her be real.

OK SO. I might have gone a little bit insane over this.
First of all, this is her from the Silksong era, so I imagine she's a little more scrappy and not quite as put together as she is in Hollow Knight. She was brought here against her will; all she has is her sword and her cloak, but she's clever and resourceful above all else.
All the accessories I gave her are from my personal loadout on Crest of the Wanderer: Threefold Pin, Warding Bell, Multibinder, Spool Extender, Weighted Belt, Magnetite Dice, Ascendent's Grip.
(I have a mod that makes Magnetite Brooch and the Compass always equipped, so I just included those)
Shoutout to the Hallowspeak.com creators for the buglang! I didn't really follow the rules of grammar at all, I just wrote out the letters and then vaguely formed them into words.
According to their item descriptions, both the bell and the brooch and inscribed. Here's what they say in my drawing:
BROOCH: "Mother, grant me blessings."
BELL: "Mother, grant me protection against mine enemies."
All in all, I am pretty happy with this drawing! I may redraw parts of it later - I feel like the amount of accessories ended up being kind of busy, and I didn't get to add rosary strings or a pouch for map supplies, both of which I initially wanted to include. I feel like I could've made her whole look a lot more cohesive in general. Maybe I'll redraw it some other time, once I've gotten better at character design!

āWhy are people dropping they/them from profilesā āa lot of people have stopped being nonbinaryā āi feel like a lot of people i knew who were nonbinary identify differently suddenlyā its the violent exorsexism in larger society and within queer communities that happens like clockwork when there is a rise in anti-queer, anti-trans bigotry.
When fascism spikes, we get a two-fold where folks who cannot or will not assimilate are pushed by our oppressors to reconsider, and fellow queer/trans folks become some of the most aggressive enforcers of that āchoiceā in an attempt to buy safety within the majority.
This shit is why inter-community discourse is not just petty complaintsāthe refusal to hold solidarity with the weirdest, loudest, most visible queers in our midst is fascist as well as self-destructive. People are being forced into the closet, forced into labels that make othersāincluding queer and trans peopleāmore comfortable, because comfort and conformity becomes the biggest priority for many when shit hits the fan. And these are the scenarios that dont end up with nonbinary people dead.
You are abandoning the most vulnerable while preaching about privileges, and this saboteur mentality will not even ultimately save you when eventually you are either forced to learn that you do not fit how you thought you did or our oppressors shift the goalposts until even your presentation of sexuality and gender are not ānormalā enough anymore.
"Why there isn't more trans men in history, contributing to queer advancements?" damn I wonder why people who were previously women that were forced into marriages and into being property either of their fathers or husbands would have a hard time coming out as a trans man. Truly a mystery. Oh wait you're also telling me people that lived their whole lives as men but were outed after they died are actually lesbians that did that to scape sexism? That's so cool. What more are you wrong about.

I do not know what exactly they are waiting for. And this has been happening to people of color since the media has existed.
Did a research project on this in undergrad and the results are extremely alarming because itās not just in imagery, itās in language used even in the law making process and within our own communities in a completely different way than expected.

I Sexually Identify as an Attack Helicopter was one of the best works of sci-fi of our generation and one of the best works of transgender fiction ever written, and there are world renowned authors who still have successful careers after they publicly assassinated the nascent woman who wrote it. I don't think they should ever know peace.
I think this constantly and then I get angry for thinking it, because trans women should not have to be martyrs or saints to animate our politics and our art. that work should have been her debut, not her epitaph. I should be moved by her career, not her absence. I could spit.
