You kill a racist bully that's been long term harassing you and threatening to kill you at school, you get a prison sentence that could span life (Karmelo Anthony).
You put a water bottle back, get hunted down by the store owner and his family who shoot you because they claim to think you were stealing (Cyrus Carmack Belton), and said murderers walk away not guilty. 😐
Days like this I hate being Black. You just supposed to lay down and die. No one wants you to snap, but no wants to treat you better. Sigh. Anyway, I'm sick to my stomach rn. Black boys deserve better. Black children deserve better.
It's funny when people act excited to see me, meanwhile every time I get my favorite Black artists on here to interact with me or are in my notes I'm just like

Warm up sketch + ref of a character
I'm gonna yap about Toni and Des cause I rarely talk about my OCs and that's a shame... so character lore below!
Desiderius is a professional baseball player. He's the starting pitcher for the Conquerors and has thee nastiest curveball (and boy, does he show that off when Toni comes to his games).
Toni is a small business lawyer. She actually started out as a corporate lawyer and fucking HATED it. She finds it much more rewarding to work with small businsses, especially those within her community.
When they first met Toni thought it was just gonna be a fling, honestly. She wasn't expecting much from a pretty boy professional althete, no matter how humble he appeared to be. Des on the other hand was ready to date Toni as soon as they went on their first coffee date. I mean, Toni is everything he's ever wanted: direct, sillier than she appears to be, smart as hell, and she's a BIG Solar Sister nerd like him (he has never emotionally recovered from the show being canceled during a cliffhanger episode). Three dates later, and he's pratically begging Toni to go out with him for real.

The biggest problem I have with "support black indie creators" is that people only really ever bring up black indie creators when a non-black (dare a say often white) indie creator gets exposed or called out for racism, and I hate to break it to you guys, but that is actually not a good thing.
Anti-blackness in the indie scene is a serious issue and we should always call it out even if it seems like a "nothing-burger," but at the same time you should always uplift and support black indie creators regardless. Solely bringing them up when some popular indie creator gets called out for racism will only lead them to being forgotten when the controversy dims down and everyone moves on to something else.
Please support black creators all year round and not just occasionally.
And stay safe everyone!
white europeans love to pretend like the united states and europe aren’t two cheeks of the same ass
Listen, nobody who's ever opened a history book says we didn't do that shit first. Pick an atrocity and chances are there was a time europeans did it on mass to someone for the sake of profit. The difference, is that we have for the most part put that behind us, while the US is just sinking deeper and deeper into it. We're not perfect, and we were a lot worse in the past. But it has been a while since we were the problem
so the racism, antiblackness, islamophobia, and hatred for immigrants just disappeared huh

The AI ads on here are going to drive me craaaazy
[ oc x canon ] not me celebrating their one year anniversary with the argument that breaks them up for a good while LOL.
i was practicing a lot here: paneling, dialogue, expressions.. i especially wanted to make a comic where they both suck real real bad and there are no true winners.
but feel free to tell me why wade is the wrongest. #isupportwomen
(small context is that coffi's late fiance ('ex') is dead Because of wade. but this happened prior to them meeting, and something she has accepted and forgiven.. 🧍🏽♀️🧎🏽♀️)

How to look for indie comics from Black creators!
As you may know, there was recently a DC Comics boycott as a part of the DCSoWhite movement since DC has not had a mainline ongoing solo with a Black lead for over 1200 days. You can read more about this here, here, here, and here. The boycott has been cancelled (link), but that doesn't mean we can't still show support for Black comic creators!
One of the things the movement called for fans to do was to "[Support] Black creators through independent and creator-owned projects." So this post is meant to provide tips on how to do this.
Check out other works of Black creators you're already familiar with
The Black comic creators you're already a fan of who have made comics for DC or Marvel have likely also made comics for other publishers too. You can usually find out about other comics they've worked on through their Wikipedia page, social media pages, and their own website if they have one. And it's a good idea to follow their social media to learn about any of their projects in the future!
Look through indie publisher websites
A great way to find out about indie comics is to check out indie publishers' websites. There will almost always be a page on their websites with all their comics so you can easily look through them and the creators will be listed so you can look into the creators too. This is one way to find out about Black comic creators who you might not already be familiar with.
The publishers that are listed as examples in the webpages linked above are Image Comics, BOOM! Studios, Vault Comics, Ignition Press, and Stranger Comics.
Check out existing lists
There are already lists online that specifically recommend Black creators to check out and comics by Black creators. You can also find recommendations and lists on social media. This is another great way to find out about Black comic creators you're not yet familiar with.
Speaking of lists, I would like to point you to this post by @bimboopo which includes a list of many Black webtoon creators which you can go check out!
Hopefully this guide will help people find out about more comics by Black creators. Support these creators by reading, buying, and talking about their comics. And even if the boycott is over, still make sure to sign the petition.

WE ARE HERE, WE ARE HERE, WE ARE HERE 🗣️✨🐉❤️🔥
“Dragon’s Keep”, my debut graphic novel and first ever @kickstarter campaign hath ✨OFFICIALLY✨ launched 🎉✨🐉❤️🔥
I’m beyond grateful to have y’all here on this journey with me!!
Being able to hit “LAUNCH” is already such a huge win for me and anything beyond that is such an honour. Y’all have already shown me so much love and support with the lead up to today. Please know that I do not take it for granted and that I appreciate each and every one of you for being here. You’ve really made this such an exciting endeavor already and I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds.
I hope y’all have a great start to your week, your summer, your Pride, and all of the above~
Love you my lovelies 🐉💜🥰
A half-orc attending her first ball ends up saving a dragon from the Town Guard. The dragon's crime? Crashing the party~
Anyway, I know that a lot of people here on tumblr do not actually buy comics, but I do want to encourage people to think about what you can do to support DCBlackout. I know that I am not a person who's purchases drive metrics at DC comics. I only put in a preorder for comics once in a blue moon, I read digitally, and I buy collected editions, but yesterday I canceled my dcui subscription and while the boycott continues, I'm not going to renew it. While I'll probably still get dc comics through second hand sources here and there, I'm not going to buy any new comics from them either.
There should be more opportunities for black creators at DC and there should be more stories for characters like Nubia, Steel, Vixen, The Signal, Mr Terrific, everyone from Milestone and more.
Even if you're not a comics buyer, you can still sign the petition and you can share your favorite independent comics from black creators. I'll start: Everyone should read Prince of Cats by Ronald Wimberly.
Try and seek out new works and expand your horizons. That's what I'll be doing.
Back in 2020 @bimboopo started putting together a list of black webcomic creators! Boosting her post to this discussion to help people find some new things seems helpful but I don't want to skip over giving her visibility for it, so you can find her own post about the list and a link to it here.
