Claudia Cardinale at her first audition at the "Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia SNC" school in Italy. Shortly after, she began her acting career, which led her to work with directors such as Luchino Visconti, Federico Fellini and Mario Monicelli.

"I was very shy, it was the first time I traveled to Italy and my mother accompanied me to do the first audition and I didn't know a single word in Italian, so they decided to dub my voice because of my strong French accent".

... No longer as a spectator, but as a protagonist, it took place in Tunis, when I was fourteen years old.

The Tunisian Minister of Culture subsidized films and documentaries. I was then chosen by a very famous French documentary filmmaker, René Vautier, and I was to appear in the film shot in Monastir.

We all participated: Blanche, me, our classmates, and our friends. We wore the veil because we had to introduce ourselves to a group of Arab women.

The leader on stage decided that I would be the only one with my face uncovered by a gust of wind. That's how I got the only close-up in the film.

It was, I remember, an oriental fable, which spoke of sinful women. In the final scene, in the last shot, we saw them greeting their husbands from atop a rock as they left.

My First Time was a first time that was crowned with success, because the film was sent to Berlin, where it won first prize in the documentary section."
