The scene where Adora is sacrificing herself and Catra is softly whispering to her body has to be the most heartbreaking one in the whole series because Catra is really convinced that Adora is going to die. In the previous scene where she decides to stay alongside Adora and respect her decision, Catra accepts that. She decides to stay even though that means watching Adora die, and she knows it. So Catra still whispering to Adora is just her last and only hope to bring her back, even though she knows she probably isn’t going to achieve it. And it’s even worse if you consider how Catra redeems herself because of her, tries to become a better person because of her, finally gets the woman she loves back in her life and is starting to feel happy by her side again, only to have to watch her die. And the way Catra clenches to her body, the way she lays her head on Adora’s chest as if she knows she’s going to stop breathing at any moment, begging her to stay, confessing her love because it’s her only chance to do it… It’s truly just really painful to witness.
