Donald the builder: Listen, I’m a bit scared of heights. I know it’s embarrassing for a fully grown professional to admit, but I need someone to ride out there and inspect this bridge for me, do you think you could do that?

MC: Oh. Uh, sure?

MC: *Rides out and spends a good few minutes trotting across the bridge, looking at the support pillars, testing the rails and inspecting the planks*

Donald: So? How’s it look?

A while back I read this article about these two gay horses and I couldn’t get it off my mind. When the development of Wildwoods came around, the team knew we wanted to write a love story between two horses separated by herds, unable to be together a la Romeo & Juliet.

But then we thought… Why not gay horses? So, Rocco and Juniper became a thing.

The letters they sent to each other via squirrel courier, the mentions of each other in their bios, their names correlating with the timeless love story they were partially inspired by (Romeo/Rocco and Juliet/Juniper) were all part of building the subtle love story.

That also explains the typo of Juniper as Julian, as in the early stages of development he was referred to as Julian.
