Turn back now while you still can

With a heavy heart, I come to you all with the news announced by close friends of Cat Frazier that she had passed away on Monday, June 29.

She had been running @animatedtext since 2012, with her impact on the internet SHAPING tumblr. If you have a years long history on this site, you’ve seen her art.

She ran a venue in Oakland called Oakland Secret, a punk venue where I’d vend at regularly as an artist. She made a safe space for queer artists, artists of color, and local furs too. I am forever grateful for her work both in the Bay Area creative scene and online, and am forever changed by the totality of her impact.

Taj is only 18 months old, but her story is extraordinary. While she was still in her mother’s womb, her mother suffered a severe head injury and a skull fracture during the war in Gaza. Doctors feared for the mother’s life and believed the pregnancy could not continue safely.

But Taj survived. She was born on September 28, 2024, against all odds — a true miracle.

Today, Taj lives with her injured mother, her father, and her two brothers in a worn-out tent after their home was destroyed. Instead of a safe nursery, she grows up surrounded by displacement, fear, and poverty.

Taj is suffering from malnutrition and urgently needs milk, diapers, nutritious food, clean water, and basic daily necessities. Her mother is still struggling with the effects of her head injury and needs ongoing medical care as well.

To keep Taj fed and cared for, the family needs at least $50 every day.

Please help this miracle child survive. Every donation, no matter how small, gives Taj a chance to grow, stay healthy, and have the childhood every child deserves. If you cannot donate, sharing her story could help save her life.

Everyone sees me suffering, yet no one even thinks of helping me. I haven't received a single donation in a long time. Everyone just tells me they reshared my post, but no one thinks to donate even a small amount so I can get treatment and rid myself of this constant agony and pain that has been in my body for over a year.

If it were a dog suffering from an injury on the street, everyone would have tried to help it. But as for me, no one even thinks about helping me get treatment.

My pregnant wife is now in the ICU after her condition suddenly deteriorated and her blood levels dropped dangerously low. I am terrified of losing both her and our baby.

At the same time, my mother is still in the hospital, fighting for her life and desperately needing treatment.

I am trapped between two nightmares, and I cannot save either of them on my own.
