rainforest cafe night

first date idea i tell you to meet me at the rainforest cafe and you show up but you don't see me and you're sitting at the table alone, worried everyone can tell you got stood up. as you finally get up to leave, defeated and with your takeout container of untouched mojo bones under your arm, you fish out a coin from your pocket to toss to the crocodile. whether it's a halfhearted attempt to hold onto the fleeting wonder of childhood or a pathetic wish for it all to get better, you'll never really know. barely looking, you flick the coin (a dime) into the enclosure but don't hear a splash. you turn around to find me sitting in the water next to the crocodile, the dime in my hand, a slight smile pulling at the edge of my lips, and you know instinctively i was there the whole time. you fall to your knees and weep; you're already in love
