Okay so tmbsshow! au where everything is the same but Kate does end up going under the brainsweeper, but the process in interrupted. This is already described as dangerous by Garrison from what I can remember, and the side effects vary depending on the person.

For others, they become completely devoid of memory or sometimes even thought.

For Kate, there’s gaps in her memory. Things she liked or enjoyed she genuinely can’t remember. Parts of their adventure from the first book/season are gone. She remembers her friends but they often have to remind her certain details about their lives.

The first person she tells about this is her dad, then Mr. Benedict, and so on. Everyone helps her try and grasp onto the half of her brain that was stolen by the Brainsweeper. It haunts her though. The not-remembering.
