Hi! This is a fundraiser to help me (Io, aka Inky) raise money for a wheelchair. I’m 23, transgender, and disabled. Here’s the scoop: I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome type III. That means my joints dislocate and subluxate regularly, and it comes with a whole host of other problems. For instance, POTS- I can’t stand up without fainting most of the time! It also means my bones don’t stay in place like they should. That’s the problem- my spine is causing me problems that will never get better, and will only get worse. Due to unstable vertebrae and swelling, my spine itself is putting pressure on my spinal cord. It causes weakness, pain, and incontinence, all of which I have. Currently, I walk with a pair of forearm crutches, but they won’t get me around forever. Within the last 3 weeks, my legs and back have started to give out on me more and more. I am increasingly bed-bound. It used to be that I could walk with only one crutch, but now, I can walk no more than 200 feet, and only with both crutches firmly in my hands. I can not get up out of bed or a chair without them. My ability to walk has severely deteriorated. I’m trying to afford a wheelchair to improve my mobility! For those who don’t know, EDS causes chronic, widespread pain. Just any old chair won’t do. I need a chair that is comfortable to sit in for more than ten minutes. The chair I’m looking at is the Quickie LXI Ultralight. It’s everything I need. I’m looking for the most basic version, the only special feature being plastic-coated handrims (other than the fantastic “Black Opal” color, which costs nothing). I don’t even want a special cushion, or awesome gloves, or fancy sad breakfast friends stickers. I just want a wheelchair so I can hang out with people! So I can do grocery shopping by myself! So I can do laundry, pick up cat food, make it to doctor’s appointments without collapsing! There are so many things I can’t do now because I can barely walk, and that ability is quickly disappearing for me. So, if you or anyone you know would be kind enough to throw a couple bucks my way, or even just share this post, that’d be great. Every single view and reblog and donation is incredibly appreciated.

A&E took advantage of these women, leaving them in a worse spot than they were in to begin with - one of the women was reportedly arrested after she had to turn back to sex work in order to provide for her family. We cannot allow a major company like A&E to get away with this. Please add your name and show support!
