Y’all know the summary halfway spoilers:

Y/N gets sent off as a poison taster because the daimiyo of the land is hella salty and just ugly and Y/N pulled a Mulan; Switched places with her brother and now she has to fit in, has to train with the other guards so her family can survive-ish/ or so she can survive more so at this point. Like this girl is literally fighting poison and wooden swords, #couldntbeme. Anyways, one lovely night the top soldier of the castle walked in on you trying to hurry up and bathe in wash house after hours. Creating a diversion, he helped you get some food, helped keep your covered and you created a new relationship with “Master Ichiya.”

(He helped MC out at guard practice and even said goodbye at war/she cooked for him touching I suppose)

War ended, castle lost, Ichiya is nowhere to be found but you get sent off to the Sanada’s and oddly enough they know you’re a woman, give you a job as a cook etc (even though only people you’ve told is “Ichiya”)

Fast forward:

Ichiya is found out to have been a spy for our lovely eldest brother Noboyuki, and also his personal body guard

FYI, yes you’ll see Jinpachi in Nobuyuki in his route (pic below from his route, took a lot of digging to find this)

And yeah his identity is revealed and now you’re like “uh who’s this asshole?”

So it’s good but I’m not too keen on the personality changes. Ikemen Nobu is the only man allowed to do that and Ikemen Masa. But mainly Ikemen Nobu because like wowwwww if I showed you the premium stories hahaha

let’s get to it

This is the starter route with Hanzo and Genya. Idk why they paired them, I personally don’t like Hanzo not even in events. The whole MC relationship seems fake and he’s a snake basically. He also seems very manipulative and I don’t like that, but Genya smoothly interjected and was like c’mon I’ll help you in Oshu.

Spoiler?: Genya later admits he recruited her to save her from being killed by Sakuya. Because he didn’t want to Sakuya to kill her, his first love

(Sorry Hanzo lovers, he ain’t for me 😭please don’t hate me)

Realistically would you trust a snake? Like his little ninja pet familiar is a literal snake. I think peoples familiars says a lot about them 😂

So going through the route Genya might seem like a very lazy/laid back character but it is actually quite the opposite. Genya has a lot of pressure from being the oldest and since he was the first twin, in a way he’s seen everything first so it was a huge burden

I shall elaborate below on the burden when I talk of the rite of passage

Off topic again, kid ninjas are like ahahahahah fucking 🥰

Anyways it’s really interesting and I quite enjoy flashbacks to their childhood it’s wholesome but the drastic change in their adult personalities are very noticeable

Okay so this is Ep 11-12 and let me tell you all the goofy and funny parts of the story have taken a pause. There were serious moments before ofc but none like this

Genya and MC had gotten back from doing this mission to speak to the Tokugawa for an alliance since Genya is a body double and MC plays the role of a healer just in case.

They often hung out under the Sakura tree to chat/nap, whatever. This night was just heart wrenching, Genya had started to say how he admired the MC for being able to live free while he was being held back by the chains of being a shinobi.

He began to talk about what happens to dead shinobi, that in the Fujibayashi village there’s something called a rite of passage.

Basically it’s a mission you get before becoming a full fledged ninja, you have to dispose of dead ninja bodies. Genya mentioned how he even had to see his friends disposed of. Like the emotion in that scene I was like 🤒

It’s pretty obvious from this scene that you can truly witness what’s it like holding the burden of not only having to dispose of your mum, but holding the title of being the older twin and trying to protect your younger sibling and keep sane.

Spoiler?: Genya mentions witnessed his moms dead body being disposed of and he said how it was amazing how even stayed sane in the village/ how much he hated the village

Best supporting cast! When Masamune smiles my nose goes *red waterfall*

This screenshot was after MC had gained the Date triplets trust as a healer when she saved Masamune so they gave her a job offer! Even offering to take in her clan! 🥳we love Oshu💁🏽‍♀️

If you like the Date I’d say go with Genya especially because Masamune’s “mommy issues” is still a big thing in this,

Genya Fujibayashi :

The Crimson Chain

Animal companion: Oboro (an adorable loyal dog)

Interest: Napping

Route summary+ starter route: As most shadow routes, your village had just been attacked and you’re out for blood basically, like you want revenge on Nobunaga from what he did to your village.

(In case you don’t know: He set people after to destroy your village because he only wanted you since you possess a special quality in your bloodline to make this amazing healing juice that he wants for himself and doesn’t want to risk anyone else having it since it’s a trump card I suppose)

originally you planned to go and see Hanzo to help with this

(since the fate of your Mitsuba clan rides on your shoulders because of your “gift” in the being able to make the juice aka the dragons tears.)

(if you favor Genya) Genya will convince you to go with him to Oshu instead of trying to mess around with Hanzo. So ofc you click him, but this is just the start of an interesting ride.

You go to Oshu with Genya because he said he could help you with your current predicament. What you don’t know is he’s actually indirectly teaching you that revenge isn’t always the option to go with. While living with Genya in this abandoned little shack, you see how different he is from when you both were young kids (well duh smh silly MC. Obviously she’s never read shojo manga.)

You also start to experience Genya on a more personal level, how he’s so lazy-about with gambling and sleeping while you’re working as a med for the town. This whole time you’re working Genya also apparently had other motives as to why he was protecting you from Sakuya. (Most shadow routes Sakuya is out to kill you because “it’s his mission as a ninja from Iga to kill fugitives” 🙄not a direct quote but a good interpretation of the situation)

Eventually this other motive was more selfish because (I’m calling bullshit and saying Genya has loved you as a child,) but since he always puts Sakuya first he only saw her as Sakuya’s first love. While Genya and MC did show their feelings to each other, Genya isn’t very straightforward he beats around the bush a lot or doesn’t say things directly like when admitted his feelings it was very subtle

He was like:

“Kinda like a kid who teases the girl he likes”

MC didn’t gather right away and I was like 👁👄👁 earth to ninja wake up.

I found out you can upload videos so I think I’ll upload some of the ending🥰 ✨sound on✨🔈but this is also a spoiler technically

Okay so I did have to trim a bit because Tumblr was being a little bitch and not letting me upload it

This is a spoiler below, it’s the light ending going into the epilogue:

The video is after MC had recovered after having been injured. She was injured when she threw herself in the middle of Genya and Sakuya fighting each other. Originally they fought over her but it turned into something much different when they started conversing about how Sakuya thinks Genya is such a screw up basically. Hanzo had tried to hold you back because he’s a little snake who instigates a lot, he’s also the one who told Sakuya your location in Oshu.

After you get hurt and quite visibly pass out from the injury. I guess it hurt Sakuya or something because he decided against it. He decided to turn the other cheek and was like I’ll ignore the mission, go get her help. While Hanzo was in the corner giggling and didn’t even help.

So the ending is basically her waking up in Oshu’s castle with retainers and The date triplets like “🙂hey you doing okay now?”

You also get told Sakuya or Saku had put a word in and Gen becomes an official ninja for the Date/will officially serve Masamune as a ninja of iga! Gen was only Masamune’s body double on the side so he never officially worked for them! But now you both do!! 🥺we love new and approved Saku.

HES so pretty ngl. So that was a mess I suppose. I’ve actually recorded Masamune’s epilogue/ending, Kyoichiro’s epilogue/ending and Hotaru’s ending.

If you want me to upload those jus lmk because I will.

My rating of his route:

Gen character: 8/10

Gen spoke in West Side Story/The Outsiders greaser text sometimes and I was like huh? How do you even say that.

MC: 7.5/10

she wasn’t a bad MC but sometimes I was like girl bye

Love: 8/10.

The love was very schoolboy school girl thing so don’t look for a Kaede/Sogo ending with this one either 😂

Smutt: 2/10

There’s innuendos in the epilogue but that’s about it

Sadness+Angst: I can’t decide but I give it a 50/50

Overall route review: 8.5/10

The Sanada brothers are so amazing and adorable haha. Nobuyuki was actually in an event recently, idk what to think yet but he’s hilarious in the routes/events. Yukimura has a really fun and unproblematic family so it’s always refreshing 😂 (totally not hinting at Saizo and mainly Masamune)

So before we begin: I tried my best with this review, for some reason writing this review had me on like 100 with being hyper. I also asked a friend to assist me since it’s been awhile since I’ve done Yukimura’s

Route summary as always kinda spoilers:

Remember how I said Masamune’s route gave me my virginity back? Yeah Yukimura’s is full on cavity sugar filled rom-com with the dark military drama

He’s kinda like a “I SHALL GIVE MY LIFE FOR MY CLAN AND MILORD SHINGEN! 😈” but mixed with a “😳🥺”

His weakness: women

So basically as most light routes go:

you get sent off as a poison tester in place of your younger brother Yahiko. Disguised as Yahiko you arrive to Shingen’s castle with a big pat on the back.

No really Yukimura was quick to welcome you into the ranks of men. Gotta be with the bros right? He’s so cheery about it too, like he’s so pumped up about MC being there that his retainer even had a: “I didn’t know you were doing that kind of recruiting” statement

I’d also like to add, Yukimura and Masamune visit each other’s routes quite often 😂

(tbf the only reason Masamune found out MC was a girl was because he pulled out his sword on Masamune and it cut her. SO THANKS YUKI!)

Anyways, as Yuki starts to experience confusing attractions to MC (his whole experience with this is fucking hilarious)

But bam all of a sudden Yukimura finds out the MC is actually a woman because silly MC ups and slips off the roof one lovely evening and by accident he touches her chest while grabbing her. He puts two and two together then realizes, “oh shit” she was a girl.

He’s so horrified from having done this to her that he later swears to protect her and help keep her identity a secret. (He’s so cute isn’t he 😂)

Long story short, this fails because Saizo figures it all out (ofc he did lmfao) tells Shingen

she almost died

Spoiler: After Saizo and Shingen engage in a conversation about this, they concluded that MC might be a spy for the Oda. So they ordered her to be beheaded (ouch)

and then Yukimura is like

“WAIT SHES MY WIFE!”

then next thing you know they’re on their way to meet the Sanada fam.

So although there is the cute, happy parts, you’ve gotta expect the sadness ahead.

So one thing, as always the parents in this game aren’t always angelic..or alive.. haha sorry

Yuki’s dad well his dad’s expectations for Yuki is to die in battle basically. So that’s pretty interesting to look for in this route. Especially because MC’s father died giving his life up to war.

MC is pretty badass in this one too, she’s got her risky battles and their hard challenges.

MC is awesome because yk she’s not gonna just let this guy go and kill himself.

So she does something special

She gave her dads hairpin to him before battle so as a promised he’ll live to return it for her.

To conclude:

MC: 9.5/10

Funny and cheesy vigin 101: 10/10

Sadness and angst: 7.8/10

Hot and bothered: just wait for the claim me at last event

Anyways Yuki is really fun and events don’t do him justice with his goofiness. I’d say it’s definitely worth it. Saizo and Yuki are definitely a good pair to do

Hell finish off the family and do Nobuyuki and Shingen next if you haven’t done it 😂

Masamune’s route was really cute and I think I got caveties during some of the stories.

I swear his Family is so fucked up like my dislike for his mom and uncle are on par with my dislike for Saizo and Hotaru’s sister Yuki. She’s crazy asf. EXCEPT HIS LITTLE BROTHER, HES SO CUTE LIKE I CANT

I’m doing Genya’s route right now so seeing the Date clan from a different light is really interesting especially Masamune. How shy and cold he is, basically like the start of his route

I love Shigezane too tho. I haven’t heard many people talking about his route but I’ll do it to completely finish the Date triplets.

Okay I’m not sure if I should describe his route besides the fact that I swear I got my virginity back. Nothing compared to his event stories tbh 😂

LONG SUMMARY AND LONG OPINION AHEAD:

Okay so in my honest opinion I did like his a bit better than Kojuro’s as far as how cute/funny it could be. I guess since Kojuro is an older love interest it would be the opposite. (I wonder how old Masamune is tho tbh. Same with MC. Is she around the same age as Ninja Mc? Because Mitsunari is like 18/19 so he’s younger than her ofc(Early 20s)

His route summary kinda spoilers: You get sent to Oshu in disguise as your brother to be a poison tester for Date Masamune. Also known as The One Eyed Dragon because of the rumor of him having a demon in right eye. After wandering around you come across Masamune making his own food at night, it ends up salty asf so you make him new food. From this you become Masamune’s personal page and chef.

While spending time with him you learn to understand his hesitance towards women (his evil ass mom who hates him because of his eye. Basically one eye is a different color than the other. Green and blue) you also witness the disdain the clan has for him because of his eye and the rumor. They’re scared of him, ( unlike other routes where the love interest finds out you’re a women kinda fast), Masamune remains oblivious and the only people who find out are Kojuro+Shigezane. Anyways eventually you are able to get the clan to see the real Masamune and how amazing he actually is. Whole time this going on his uncle and mom plotting his death smh. (Is that a spoiler? Idk)

Spoiler in bold words skip if you don’t want to see it:

•Spoiler: His dad dies and it completely tore him apart like he stopped eating and sleeping. What made it worse is his mom blamed him until the end of the route smh

Anyways I liked it, it was cute, kinda wish there were some moments like “😳dayum” but it’s understandable from a guy who has been traumatized by women/a woman since birth. Him also finding out the MC was a girl was kinda weird but also expected, like I knew he was going to find out then, but was also curious as to how he never noticed this. Like as far as periods, how did no one catch on, the maids didn’t even know from what I remember. Did she ask Kojuro for help or what? Idk so those were plot holes

Spoiler: They went to visit her family in the city, MC turned back into a girl so Masamune was all awkward again but got cut by Yukimura on accident and when he tried to fight Masamune. Masamune wrapped her cut. When they were leaving (dressed as a boy again) MC started to get sick (Period) and passed out when Masamune gave her a piggyback ride. He saw the cut and was like oh shit.)

Kinda spoiler?: MC admitted her love after he found out about her gender and Masamune didn’t admit his until she was almost killed by his mom smh.

I recommend it if you like cute and wholesome things. Him admitting his love to her was also a bit rushed but i guess it’s because of the circumstances that were going on?

I guess you could say Kyo also had a route where it was wholesome but it did have a bit more action and moments.

Funny thing is, Genya actually disguises himself as Masamune sometimes for like safety things (he goes to meetings disguised because people yk might be out to kill him) so I love it. I also love Masamune’s reaction to Genya’s dog 🥰so cute

Anyways I like Genya’s and might do a mid route review but I get anxiety every chapter thinking Sakuya’s gonna pop out and kill MC. He did it in Kyoichiro’s! Like good lord. I doubt this all made sense but my ADHD said it did

I’m trying to get over my bias of liking Hotaru more rn ✋🏽 considering Saizo pissed me off in his route and Kyo’s. Aye maybe that’s why they’re a pair? lol

Anyways Saizo is one of the top rated characters vs in my opinion the very underrated younger brother.

My “aggressiveness” (fiancé’s description) towards Saizo is just because how much of an ass he is in Hotaru’s and Kyoichiro’s. Dude tried to kill his own little brother.

I’ll summarize both stories kinda spoilers kinda not so beware :

Hotaru Kirigakure: The Sleeping Lion with a cat companion named Toga (Tiger.) Hotaru is a ninja of Iga who holds a special talent and title. He’s the hidden jewel of iga , master of soul of language. Basically it’s a talent where you can get anyone to do what you want. He doesn’t speak a lot for this reason so he uses paper to write (but eventually Kenshin and family help him open up and be happy 🥲)

So basically the shortened backstory as to how he met/got to Kenshin is he runs away from confinement his family+iga had him in, to experience the world/freedom. It’s really sad because he was all alone in the middle of nowhere.

MC had met him on the way to greet Kenshin in her quest to get freedom for her clan (she’s adorable in this route) so basically they were the same. He’s so pure and innocent that it’ll make your heart throb knowing he’s being pulled in the shadows.

Saizo Kirigakure: The Lord Assassin (AKA Legendary Fox Spirit) who’s favorite food is dango 🍡 lol .Saizo is a ninja of iga who’s employed by the Sanada Clan and also one of the Sanada ten braves (10 strong dudes in the clan.) he is kinda tsundere and capricious, totally opposite of his little brother. His character design and story won’t disappoint, just like his brother didn’t. (ok I’ll stop comparing 😂)

Bring a lot of tissues and a lot of patience, because there will be angst, a lot of angst that will crush your heart a thousand times. His story makes you feels so happy but also sad. Saizo’s route definitely has everything you look for in historical romance stories. When he teases, it’s really light-hearted and funny. And despite everything he says, he never leaves MC’s side and serves as the typical hero who rescues her when she faces danger.

Conclusion: I hope you enjoyed that mess because it is one. You should definitely check the brothers out because I’m sure they were a favorite in writing. They’re polar opposites but stories are beautifully written in terms of the drama, laughs, and romance. Even with background characters..Maybe it’s because both aren’t retainers in Nobunaga’s realm 😂

Lowkey the Mitsuba were originally under Nobunaga but they should’ve been under Kenshin smh. He’s so beautiful I think I’ll do his light route some time. Maybe after Genya’s but I kinda wanna get the shadow routes over and done with so I can read Hotaru’s story again. Oh yeah btw before you wonder: Hotaru loves his older brother, he was the only one who visited him when he was all alone but Saizo was still a dick to him. Like how Sakuya is to MC.

( FYI Hotaru is the only route I’ve done both endings (shadow+light) and after reading/experiencing what a shadow route ending is (my heart shattered I swear) I’m hesitant to do Kyo’s but I want to finish all his endings. So I’m confused screaming.

Based on this you can probably see who’s my favorite out of the two brothers 😂. But Kyo and Hotaru are the best shadow routes, kinda rare for a pair because ones usually better than the other.

Anyways like I said before I just finished Masamune’s so I completed another pair. The pair I’ve completed are:

Currently doing Masamune’s, I did his when like before I started playing again so I vaguely remember the ending. Kojuro’s was fun, I liked the MC+ interactions as an older Love interest (Most of them are older tbf)

So Kyoichiro route was so wholesome honestly, it was paced very well and definitely put a smile back on my face after Hotaru’s shadow route ending. I was nervous his personality was gonna push me away but oh how I loved it. The MC was even better, she was quick to snap back at him and took no sh$t (just in case.) I can see why Kyo is paired with Hotaru, both of their MC’s are great. Like I’m ranting but I really liked his route and after I finish the light route I chose next (needed a breather from the ninjas lol,) aka Masamune’s, I’ll do his shadow ending (ouch.)

Spoiler: MC got stuck in a well because of Sakuya’s bitch ass. He wanted the recipe to the dragons tears, but she refused (yeeess) and then he threw her in there. Kyo was looking day and night for her but she was trapped trying to get back to him. Eventually Sakuya gets her out, almost chokes the life out of her before Kyo is like “HA HA YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD HER”

Kaede is always a special light.

Route summary kinda spoilers:

MC village was under attack and she was looking for a way to find a place for her clan/help them stay safe away from Iga. Originally she was under Nobunaga but he had no interest in the clan, just MC/her dragons tears remedy. MC meets Kyo to learn how to be free/not afraid. As she learns about him, and his nighttime adventures (he takes from the rich to give to the poor under an alias connected to an origami bird.) during this time she’s able to gain a relationship with Hideyoshi, one of Nobunagas retainers (he’s with Toshiee in the light routes.) Althought you don’t reveal your identity as a ninja you show your medicine crafting abilities in hopes he’ll help put a word in to Nobu.

Bunch of ninja complications later and MC realizing her feelings. In the end Hideyoshi saves the day! With Nobunagas help but all thanks to MC (HELL YEAH SHE AWESOME ASF) putting a brave face on, taking control for her mans and herself.

So my only problem was dealing with Kyo’s bitchy attitude (not as bad as Nobu or Ieyasu) his backstory filled in the blanks for this so it helped a lot. I really liked how this went and I dare say it rivals Hotaru..

Jk no one can.

Also seeing Kaede say goodbye to MC hurt my heart like knowing Kaede is in love with her and never got to admit (atm) her true identity unlike Hotaru’s where Sogo fought Hotaru over a hug haha

Ninja MC spam today!! But let’s show appreciation to slbp newest character Kaede/Sogo. I actually did their route when it first came out. I had just finished Hotaru’s light ending so I did have high expectations going in.😂. So back to the route: It was a bit slow at first and the ending definitely had me like “👀😳 am I interrupting something?”

I do recommend their route but have patience with MC she is young but also very innocent from being sheltered in her clan because of her ability to make this special healing juice thing lmfao.

The event stories that I had with Kaede/Sogo was kinda confusing because I didn’t realize event stories sometimes have nothing to do with the ending of the main route or later in it. (I’m slow sometimes forgive me)

Summary of Route kinda spoilers idk: (Kaede is the ninja MC’s best friend they’ve been together since they were young (as seen in all shadow routes,) when their clan is up on the line because of iga (also all shadow routes basically,) MC+Kaede have to go out and find shelter for it. While they’re traveling to figure out what to do, MC finds out that Kaede is actually a man named Sogo (as seen in the preview of the route.) Sogo had to hide his identity to be Kaede because he was the head of the clans son and yk dangerous stuff with being the heads son ig.

So it was an interesting ride because the MC is slowly dealing with the news of her best friend being a man and how to understand her emotions/feelings for him. She had to puzzle her feelings out and talk to herself about the love she felt, when she started it, etc. also it was cute when she said she loved both Kaede and Sogo. I cried actually, it was so wholesome and then they fucked so a 360 yes it was

This was actually a really cute route to do ngl. I’m ranting, am I?, yes I am.
