Lala Land is as every bit as rousing as it is beautiful. It sweeps you off your feet from its opening moments and transports you into a Hollywood marvel saturated with color, dance, and blissful romance. Much like Whiplash, Chazelle directs the picture with a deep personal passion for music and again nails the struggle of pursuing elusive dreams. The colors are lifted right outta Jacques Demy’s best and the performances make you long for simpler times of Gene Kelly and Sinatra pictures. I’d bet a farm that you have the soundtrack saved on your music library. There’s no shame it it, it deserves to be there.

If you haven’t already, go see this it. It’s on Hulu. See? Simple and easy.

Movies are my very favorite thing in the entire world and 2016 had some pretty good ones. With the Oscars literally around the corner, I thought it would be awesome to share with you guys my top 5 absolute favorite pictures of last year. I’ll be rolling out each one day by day until Sunday’s festivities. There’s some big movies and some little ones you probably have never heard of. So if you haven't seen something on the list, I highly recommend you take the time to celebrate last year's magnificent treasures.
